I always knew soccer was tough. I also knew soccer fans in Europe are on the wacko side of things. But south America takes the cake. Brazilians are just....wow.

How many refs will be handing out red cards after this ? After chopping up the ref, they cut the dudes head off and put it on a stake in the middle of the field too. Couldn't pay me enough....

Thought that getting whistled at and called an assassin when you make an unpopular call was getting pretty tense but this has to take the cake....

Even the Raider Nation ain't this nuts... players attacking refs, refs killing players, fans killing refs. Perhaps a new sport could be invented down there were the players kick live grenades across the field.

The most insane fanes of any sport, and incidentally, the most insane parents of any sport participant. are the "soccer moms". Have you guys watch video of them losing it at games?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Aztec or Mayans have a primitive version of soccer in which the losing team was beheaded?

Yes, along with a ban on <things-that-go-pow>, knives, alcohol, tobacco, non-iodized salt, certain dog breeds, Easter eggs, cupcake soldiers, Happy Meal toys, large sugary soft drinks, unions, feeding the homeless, kid lemonade stands, incandescent light bulbs, school sack lunches, regular flow toilets/shower heads, reincarnation without prior consent, eating lobster, shaving, ice cream truck music, arsenic in chicken and pig feed, dodge ball, and .... electric cars.

That's not a complete list, btw, but it'll do for starters. I'm not entirely sure how these measures will prevent soccer decaptitations, but ..... we have to do something now ! For the children !!

Having lived in Germany quite a while I attended a few of the Bundesliga games VFB Stuttgart soccer games, talk about a crowd that takes the game seriously, I feared for my life a few times the soccer hooligans get downright nasty. I attended a couple of Charger Raider games as a kid those Radier fans that came to Charger home games were angels compared to German soccer fans.

Man, you had me worried there for a moment Tony...when I read the title I though you were referring to golf. What a relief. And yes those fans are rabbid for sure. I'd hate to see what they would do when something important in their lives doesn't go their way. Look out!!

There was an incident recently in the paper where in the U.S. a soccer player punched the ref, who later died from the hit. There is an amusing aspect when parents get into fights at their kid's game. Of course, they are setting a bad example and contributing to a culture of violence, but it is funny in a black humor ironic manner.

Reminds of that scene in Caligula where that machine goes down the field beheading people buried up to their necks.
