LSi25 wire length, does it matter?

Quick and probably crazy question. I'm about to pick up a pair of 25s and thinkin about hooking them up with speaker wire on the top posts only and using LFE for the subs. Does the sub cable need to be same length as speaker wire??? Probably won't make a difference but just making sure before I do it.

    What he said ^^^

Just a word of caution before you go that route. Watch the volume dial. Even though that's an option with those speakers, it won't sound like a dedicated subwoofer....in my opinion anyway. Plus by doing that, your 2 channel music may suffer. Just sayin'.

Would it be better to run them from the binding posts ans set them to large on the avr?

I would say yes, but certainly you can try both ways to see what floats your boat.

My thoughts on using the bottom portion as a subwoofer are todays dynamic soundtracks on Blu-ray can be pretty demanding. Most will try and dial up the subs on the speakers to get that boom and possibly overdrive them. They have their limits, start small and increase to a level you feel is not stressing the speaker.

A LFE cable is not the same as a speaker cable. LFE cables carries signal and are mostly thin (the conductor wire inside) and shielded to avoid interference. LFE cable length is normally not a concern as long as it's well shielded and doesn't pick up interference. Speaker cable is a lot thicker (again, am talking about the wire inside) because it carries the power to drive the woofers. The cable length does matter as the power would drop as it gets longer. Thicker cable can carry the power longer in distance. For example, if you need to run your speaker cable 50 feet long, then you should use 10AWG cables. You should be able to find a distance vs. AWG table by searching online.

Depends if your gear does any kind of room adjustments. If it does, LFE is the way to go. I'd recommend not setting your front to large. It would send full range frequencies to the upper drivers which doesn't make too much sense (and vice versa for the subwoofer). Although crossover circuits can filter out unwanted frequencies, it's not ideal.
