Newbie-need help with 202 or 303

this is my first HT setup=looked at sub/sat 6005 and 6700-settled on the 6700-my question is about which sub to buy-the 202 would be free with this system at Circuit City-or I can get the 303 for an additional $ 120.(CC will give me a credit on the 202 against the 303)-
My wife and I live in an apt so noise consderation is an issue. We are not audiophiles-just want to enjoy DVD's, cd;s and better sound from our TV-we do not need bone rattling bass. The salesperson at CC says the 303 is much better-he said the 202 has had a history of blowing out-especially at loud levels(we have no intention of playing it that loud).
Our living room is about 12 x 18 1/2 with 8'ceilings. Our receiver is Panasonic SAE100. IT seems to us that the 202 will suit our purposes ok & its footprint is smaller(we have some space considerations)-but maybe the 303 is more appropriate with the 6700 system.-Any help greatly appreciated-Jerry

    Jerry,

Listen to both and take the one home that sounds better to you.

I would just take the free subwoofer for now, especially since you are in an apartment. Then maybe a year or two from now you could get something bigger.

Good advice. Since you live in an apartment and don't play very loud and do not want to disturb your neighbors the 202 may very well fit your needs at this time. Take it home and set it up properly and see if you need more bass from there. CC allows a one year trade up program so if you want something more robust in the bass department you should be able to trade up to the 303 no problem. A win-win situation either way.

I think that it would probably be better to get the 202 since you are living in an apartment and can't listen to you stuff very loud (most of the time im guessing). My dad has the 202 and we live in a townhouse which is not an appartment (no one below or above us) but we still get phone calls from the neigobours since our house is attached on the side. The 303 would be more than likely to be much better but for your needs the 202 would probably be just fine.
