Rotel CD player issue

I have a Rotel RCC 1055 5-disc CD changer and it has recently been giving me an occasional problem when I load more than 1 CD.
What happens is that, when I put more than one CD in the CD changer, it sometimes finishes disc 1 and rotates to disc 2 but, instead of playing disc 2, it reads to the end of disc 2 (the display shows the listing for the last song in disc 2) and does not play disc 2. So, rather than reading and playing track 1 of disc 2 it goes to the end of disc 2 and does not play that disc after disc 1. I have to manually press Play on the remote and it then plays disc 2 fine.
This only occasionally happens. And sometimes it happens on disc 3 if I have 3 CDs loaded (it will play the first 2 CDs fine and then after CD 2 it will rotate to CD 3 but go to the end of the 3rd CD and not play it until I hit the Play button).
I am not sure if this is an issue with the unit or the CDs.
I'd appreciate any suggestions/feedback as to what may be causing the issue.
Thanks.

RamZet, thanks. I was wondering, since you mentioned that this is a common issue you have seen, what is exactly the problem and what is causing this issue?
I thought it may have been some CDs as the CD player does not do it all the time. -
I just googled Rotel RCC1055 problems--and there were others with issues with that unit. If you havent already tried that. Give it a try. Good luck with it .....http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php?23824-Rotel-RCC-1055-occasionally-cannot-read-the-CD..

Hey,
I shot out a few emails to my co-workers to find out what the problem is. As soon as I get a few replies I will PM you or post here.
Normally the carousel is the problem and sometimes the laser is just grumpy. Do you have a CD lens cleaner disc? have you attempted to load a cd in one by one into each cd spot?
So put a disc in tray 1, play it, remove it. put a disc in tray 2, play it, remove it. repeat for trays 3,4,&5.
Sometime the player isnt unloading the disc it has playing and it will double load.
the guys at Rotel (B&W Group) are awesome. give them a buzz and see if you can talk to a tech. (did you buy this cd player new or used?)B&W CM9Classé Sigma -

Thanks, Boston and Ram.
I bought the unit used about 6 months ago from the original owner, a fellow CP member (or former member - he has not posted for a long time but saw my Wanted post on CP). He is a great guy and I trust him when he said that everything worked fine when he had it. The unit was mint, absolutely like new, with original box and remote. And I got a great price on it.
The problem only happens once in a while. And, when it does happen, the CDs play fine after I hit Play. They also play fine, one at a time. It only occasionally happens after rotating from one disc to another...that is, after 1 dics ends (whether CD 1 or CD 2 or CD 3, it varies), it sometimes goes to the end of the subsequent CD and stops rather than going to the beginning of the CD and playing it.
Everything on the unit works perfectly...the carousel, remote, all functions, etc.
I will try the CD lens cleaner and also call Rotel.
Thanks for your input and suggestions. Much appreciated! -
I am still waiting on emails, its the weekend. Should have an answer on Monday.B&W CM9Classé Sigma

Thanks, Ram.
I loaded a complete Grateful Dead show (4 CDs) last night and the unit worked great. It rotated and played all 4 CDs perfectly.
Like I said, it is very random when it happens. Could it be a problem with some CDs?
Thanks for your feedback. -
This is the email i got back.

They no longer manufacture the part."B&W CM9Classé Sigma -
I have a RCC-1055 - now for 7 yrs and no problem whatsoever with it. I keep my lens cleaned (weekly) with one of those CD-type cleaners. Keep us updated on your progress.[

Miner, thanks. What CD-type lens cleaner do you use? I will have to buy one and clean the lens. I am not sure when that was last done as I got the unit from the original owner about 6 months ago. I know he took care of it well as the unit is like new and had original box, manual, and remote. But I am sure it is due for a lens cleaning.
I have been playing it for the past few days without problem. But I have been playing brand new CDs. So I am now thinking the issue may have more to do with older (and dirty) CDs which the lens may have trouble reading.
The first step will be to do a lens cleaning and see if that takes care of it so I would appreciate it if you could let me know what CD-type lens cleaner you recommend.
Thanks and, btw, you have some amazing gear! -
I believe it is a Telerac CD cleaner - a CD-shaped cleaner with a small brush on the lens-side of the CD. The CD voice-guides you through the process whand then plays a small snipit of a classical tune at the end, switching between channels to be sure both channels are operating correctly.
I am very fortunate to be able to enjoy the gear I have. The "Strictly 2-Ch" setup is my wife's stereo, or so I tell her.[ -
Thanks, miner. I will get the lens cleaner and hope that helps.

Ram, the CD player has been working perfectly. I haven't had a chance to get the lens cleaner yet but I will do so in the near future. Thanks.
