So I was out with the family the other day, browsing the electronics dept. at Target. I got to looking at their lineup of Blu-ray players and the Sony bdp-s5100 caught my eye with its cheap plastic crystal shaped case. Only $119 I thought it was a nice bargain player to replace the ps3. There was only three on the shelf and two of them had badly beat up boxes. So I grabbed the one clear in the back that was in the best condition and went on my merry way. Well, after hitting up a few more stores, eating a late dinner, then getting the kids to bed I had a chance to unbox my new player. And what did I find in there, a busted up samsung dvd player. Oh lucky me, I fell victim to someone elses scam. I talked my wife into returning for me, she would do a much better convincing the store manager she was the victim and not the scammer. She did great, brought me back new sony in a smashed up box. I'm a happy camper now, but I really thought I was up the creek on that one.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. I can't understand how the store got scammed, since THEY are supposed to check the contents of all returns?
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

That is very bad on the store, but I doubt the box was checked upon return...

Glad it turned out well for you. Wouldn't it be cool if for ONCE it worked the other way? Hey I bought this entry level BDP, got home and found a brand new Oppo 105 in the box! Dreams never die, just the dreamer

Yea, the thing is it looked like a unopened sealed box, had the clear tape on each end with the sony logo on it. And the store had the security cable thing around the box too. My wife asked them "don't you check the returns" he said "sadly no, but we should start", no kidding. I would assume one carefully removed the tape and returned it as an unused/restockable item. Or it was a dishonest employee. The scammer didn't even have the courtesy to put the samsung remote with it, just the player no remote or manual.
