NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! My SR6500 woofer is "rattling". Blown??

I've noticed this rattling sound in/behind my door panel and was pretty sure it was typical sound deadening job I needed to patch up. To my huge dissapointment it was actually my SR6500 woofer :cry:

With lower frequencies as it moves it makes rattling/cracking sound that is very similar to typical plastic panel vibration noise. I took it off, push in/out on it with my fingers and same noise is there. I do have a spare set of SR6500s so I replaced this woofer right away but still very sad about one of them going out like that.

any way to fix it?
I can post a video if it helps.

Gains are set right, crossed at 60Hz.... the only thing I can think of as far as why it's blown (is it?? never had a blown speaker before) is that my headunit starts to distort at 20+ volume bar and maybe my brother who sometimes drives my car blasted volume a lot higher... :confused:

    Check around the phase plug and down around where it screws in. I've had this happen a couple times where a tiny scrap of metal shaving comes from somewhere (probably where it's threaded) and slips between the cone and the housing for the phase plug. When this happens, it'll buzz at around 80 Hz. It's hard to see if it's in there cause it doesn't take a very big piece.

    I agree, besides the voice coil going out of alignment or debris in the gap I can't think of anything else it could be.

    Ok, I'm lost here.
    I don't see any shavings/dirt. Not saying it's not there, I just don't see any. I used flashlight, I used magnet in hopes it'll scoop metal shavings (if any) up - nothing.

    Here's a video.
    Short explanation - noise comes on when I hold my finders at 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock but not when fingers are at 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock. Also - when fingers are closer to the middle - no noise. When they are by surronds - noise.

    Any help/suggestion appreciated.

    I think it's toast dude. Sounds like the suspension is borked. I just went out and did that to the spare 6500 mid I've got and it made no noise.

    This sound usually comes due to a blown woofer/ speaker. Had that problem to my own. No point other than replacing it..
