Oppo BDP105 or Wyred4Sound Dac2?

I am in the market for a new dac and was wondering if anyone has heard both the W4S Dac2 and the Oppo BDP105's dac section? I know they both use ESS ES9018 chips, and I like the sound of the 105, but am wondering if the stand alone Dac2 is better from what people have heard? I will be using a it with a Sonos connected to my NAS for music. Thanks.

I can't answer that, but the Oppo is also a Bluray player, so a part of the price is for electronics you don't need. A pure DAC for the same price as the Oppo should work better since that is its sole purpose. On the other hand, with the Oppo you have a spare Bluray player.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -
That is part of the appeal of the Oppo, since this it will be going in my dual purpose rig. Forgot to mention that part.

I own both, and have both in my rig, you can't go wrong with either one. Just go with the one that fits your needs best, and be happy..
