I am new to this forum and could use some help. I have one pair of SDA SRS from 1985. I need to sell them, they are in perfect working order, but have been in house with smoking. I also have Polk surround and five small Polk speakers. I have no clue what to sell them for. I would appreciate any help. I saw some on Ebay once for 450.00 and thought they would be worth more than that. I have original sales receipt and the ad/flyer that is like one selling on Ebay.

I actually have a lot of stereo items, all in great shape, except for smoke environment, not sure how much that matters. Do people still want things like Denon turntable, Apt Holman, Carver ? I have not separated and researched these things yet and was hoping for some advise. I will check back tomorrow for any replies. Location is southern part of Florida, does that make it worse?

Sounds like some mighty fine stuff your willing to part with, but forum rules states you have to have 100 posts to part with them here, perhaps someone will help you out with pricing, so you can part with these items elsewhere. Good luck with selling your items.

Welcome to club Polk hang out and participate and after the required posts needed someone here might want to take some of your stuff off of your hands.

Get the make and model numbers, then research past sales on eBay to get a price range.

Thank you for replying to me. I read about the 100 posts thing and regret not being able to go about this the proper way. I have enjoyed hearing these speakers since 1985 and showed someone the other day how they can rock your senses to bits by playing my ipod; I have no clue how to turn on or control the whole system. I really wanted someone else to enjoy these beauties at a fair price now. I do have all the manuals and will check out Ebay. Thanks for the welcome.

Just checking in to see if any one else noticed my questions about the Polks...have to start moving furniture and stuff around them and know to walk wide circle, so not to harm them. If you all want a giggle, think of me now going to a Bose radio and cd player because I have no clue with stereo parts. I will make sure that the monsters get in grateful and caring hands...just want to be fair with price without giving them away. Ebay makes my head spin sometimes and not a fan of running want ads. I think that this makes post 4, will never make 100, but it is nice to know there is this group of Polkies. Thanks for the welcome.

If you would at least put your zip code in your information I could figure out maybe what they would be worth in your area. You got to remember at almost 30 years old the crossovers need to be redone that's about $300 on the cheap side. I gather since there is no picture your SDA SRS have 8 6.5 drivers 4 tweeters. Prefect condition interconnect cable and papers, to a person that really wants them about $800.

This is what I have. They were bought in Clearwater, FL and I live south of there. I could provide pictures, but have not taken any of them. The only thing they lack is dusting and some lemon oil for the wood, otherwise my husband maintained them quite well. I feel bad they have been a household with a smoker and may be offensive to a non-smoker. I do really thank you for your reply. I did speak to someone at Polk Audio for info also. I may have my brother in law list them on craigslist for me but try for higher price and see if any takers. Thanks again.

Yea you could start at $1200 if they are perfect and you are not in a hurry

Since knowing more about them will help you explain to the buyer what you have please download this Pdf file

    The Sda Handbook.

    http://vr3mods.com/uploads/SDA_Handbook_2011_Rev2.pdf

Do not get in a hurry (take 3-6 months) trying to sell them as the biggest problem because of the size is finding a buyer that is able to transport or to hire a shipping company that will handle then so that they don't get damaged. Even a small drop can damage one of the large drivers magnet assembly. Take lots of pictures when you post them a lack of pictures always makes buyers think you are hiding something. The smoking is not a problem as it can be cleaned and will disperse my 1C smelled like cigar smoke but 1 year later and a good cleaning it went away.

    Another good please to sell

Thanks PolkieMan! Yes, I remember how much fun getting these guys home were. You have been a wealth of info for me and I really appreciate it. I will not attempt to clean or handle them before sale...Polk must have used some quality grill cloth material to look so good after all these years. I will post any progress I have.

Ok, here we go 1200.00 on craigslist and Polk surround with 5 speakers as free bonus. I hope that they sell and land up with someone to enjoy them. Thank you PolkieMan and others here for helping me. Guess that there are no Bose radio forums? LOL Thanks again.

Now I know why you didn't respond to my e-mail ( I replied to your craig's list add). I don't blame you for keeping them. If you ever do want to get rid of them, I'm just north of you in Sarasota. Enjoy.

drumiv, had someone else do the craigslist for me, will try to get a private message to you through the forum, if I can figure it out. I would like for the Polks to be in better hands than mine.

Smart move keeping them. Once gone, they are nearly impossible to get back.

Doing the recommended upgrades will take what was a great speaker for it's time and transform them into something that is easily world-class by today's standards. The other recommendation would be to get some decent 4 ohm capable power to them and decent interconnects and you would have the makings of a killer system on a modest budget.

All the advice and information you need is here for the searching and asking.
