SDA 1s. The 1As used the SL2000 while the 1s used the SL1000. Both were bade/blade."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

The older SDA models such as the SDA 1 and 1A had one Stereo tweeter, one SDA tweeter. The 1B and 1C use two stereo tweeters but no SDA tweeter. This may be the biggest single improvement in the SDA model range.
The 1C can be used with an AI-1 isolation transformer, the earlier models cannot. -
you can replace the tweeters with RD0-194's and upgrade the x-overs still.

wrong you have SDA1a. The difference are as follows SDA1 had ports for the top 2 MW and each had their own box. SDA1 had 3 inductors. SDA1a had no ports and the MW boxes removed SDA1a had 2 inductors and came with SL1000 and SL2000. Now here is where slight difference's came to play SL2000 SDA1a had the MW's lowered slightly to make room for the SL2000 tweeter The SDA1a with the SL1000 tweeter when you used a SL2000 or RDO-194 tweeter dome it is almost behind the top of the grill frame. Both can be upgraded but will never come close to SDA1c two different birds. Most like the dimensional tweeter disabled I like the dimensional tweeter in play it's just a matter of removing a fuse to your taste.
I have the SDA1 signature which is SDA1a with the ports filled and a plaque to cover the holes. I have done all upgrades and it made a huge difference over stock. -
Wasn't there 3 different versions of the SDA1?
All of these are SDA 1s...
SDA 1
SDA 1 Signature Edition
SDA 1 (2 versions of this...1 with regular blade/blade IC and then one with the 3 prong RTA12 plug)
And then we have SDA 1A
The OPs picture clearly shows SL1000 tweeters...
Now granted, the SN *does* say: SDA IAXXXX but is it possible that the terminal cup was replaced at one time?"Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

you are correct that the very first SDA1 had the RTA 12 plug then all others had the blade/blade plug
SDA1a
SDA1signature
SDA1
SDA1a
^^^your pictures in order
the SDA1a had both SL1000 and SL2000 tweeters
Any SDA1 cabinet that had ports is in fact SDA1 any SDA1 cabinet that didn't have ports is in fact SDA1a. My SDA1 signatures are in fact considered SDA1a they are just transitional cabinets that had the ports plugged with dowel rods and covered with the plaque that is all. The terminal cup "could" of been changed BUT ALL SDA1 and SDA1 signature's had LARGE square plates that held the XO ALL SDA1a's had the cup you see on the OP's
if you look close you can see the top MW on the SDA1a with SL2000 tweeters are 1/4" closer to the bottom MW to make room for the SL2000. When i tried to fit SL2000 on my speakers the top of the tweeter is at the edge of the line between black face and wood top no black can be seen between the front and the top wood. -
I was just going off http://www.gimpod.com/sda-id.html
If that is the case, then he has them labeled wrong.
I was also told that *only* the 1s came with the SL1000 and *only* the 1As came with the SL2000.
I guess the 2 sources I was using are what caused my confusion.
BTW, I am not trying to argue with you, I am just trying to clarify to the OP that the sources quoted may not be accurate..."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Yea I know you're not trying to argue it's confusing for sure. Tony's 99.9999% its all semantics as we all know Polk was king at using left over parts so that is why you have cabinet, driver, tweeter and XO's all over the place.
So in regard to this All SDA1's had ports all SDA1a's had no ports regardless of the tweeters. If you look at tony's link you see all had the same driver configuration the mw6600 was an older driver to the mw6501 from what i understand so they could of came with either or both. -
Makes sense. In a weird sort of way. Hehe."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."
