I've got a 25' Monster cable. Since I live on the opposite side of the country I don't think I can match HTGurus's offer of $15 shipped.Parasound P5 Pre

$15 shipped that is crazy cheap!
Best sub cable I ever heard was using 4 runs of 20 ga solid core magnet wire. mono to dual rca's.
Pounded the ground!
I have made a few of them in the past, but would not consider a 25 footer.
At that length, it is nothing but a long antenna, so I would make sure there is some good shielding if not doubling of the shielding.
Not as important as full range, but none the less will introduce some "anomalies" at that length (depending on were you live).
This might very well be the only time I would recommend a couple of runs of low capacitance "coax" cable.
Unless you only need mono, and two runs would still be better than one!Testing

Now you have me thinking why I'm only using one RCA into my sub which has a left and right RCA but my reciever only has one out?
Why is this and do you need to use both RCA's on the sub?
Right now I am using the Belkin 25 footer as wellATC SCM40's,VTL TL 2.5 Preamp,PSB Stratus Goldi's,McCormack DNA 500,McCormack MAP-1 Preamp,Pro-Ject Xtension 10 TT,Ortofon Cadenza Red/Nordost RedDawn LS Speaker cables, Bryston BDP-2, Bryston BDA-2,PS Audio AC-3 power cables -

If your sub has 2 rca inputs...yes, you should use them.
It sums both to mono.
That said, if your source is mono, you simply need a mono to dual rca cable.
Or use a mono cable with a mono to dual rca adapter.
You get better performance from a mono to dual rca cable than you would using the adapter though, eliminating the extra connections, ect.Testing

A couple of runs of the Straightwire "Silver 23" might just be the ticket.
"Coax design" double shielded, and "healthy" in the bass department.:cheesygrin:Testing

Then why are most subwoofer cables I've seen only single ended and most sub woofers have a left and right rca?ATC SCM40's,VTL TL 2.5 Preamp,PSB Stratus Goldi's,McCormack DNA 500,McCormack MAP-1 Preamp,Pro-Ject Xtension 10 TT,Ortofon Cadenza Red/Nordost RedDawn LS Speaker cables, Bryston BDP-2, Bryston BDA-2,PS Audio AC-3 power cables

Not sure what you are talking about?
They are all "single ended" unless they are XLR's.
Then they would be considered "balanced".Testing

PM's please Jamie.A couple of runs of the Straightwire "Silver 23"
^^^^Good idea for a sub cable though, not to mention a shorter digital cable, I have been using if for a couple of years, and depending on the rca's you use, excellent for both, for a sub cable no need for more expensive rca plugs.
The better you use for digital full range, the better results.
Its good stuff solid core 23 ga. (silver plated copper shield)!
About $1.20/foot/shippedTesting

The cable I have is a Belkin Pure AV, 25 ft. I actually found the same cable at Amazon for only $8.29. I didn't realize they could be had for so cheap. Might be better to buy it new. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-PureAV-Subwoofer-Audio-Cable/dp/B0001XGQTADisplay: Sony 42" LCD

I think that we just co-mingled single ended as in unbalanced rather than balanced and single channel as in Left, Mono, Right.

That seems like the best route for the money.
But it may be worth a little more expenditure for better cable at that length (length being the key word).
Just don't have alot of confidence in a $9- 25 foot cable, just saying.
I recently "de-engineered" a Monster cable and was shocked to find a return jumper in a 15 foot single to dual rca cable.
Not the worst idea I guess, but I am sure they were happy with their profit, using only a 3 wire cable when a 4 wire was actually required, in this instance.
Saved a 15 foot single wire length I guess.
With as many as they sell, it prolly pays off in the long run.I think that we just co-mingled single ended as in unbalanced rather than balanced and single channel as in Left, Mono, Right.
I have already built 2 cables in my life, no really 2 "good uns"!
I know what you are saying speedskater, just "ruffling your feathers".:cheesygrin:Testing
