Hey Guys,

This is my first post here which means im pretty much a noob.

I found a pretty good deal on a pair of SDA 2's. I currently use a marantz 2230 as my reciever. I know this will not be power to give these speakers what they deserve. I was thinking about purchasing a power amp and using my marantz as a preamp. However as i am a noob i am pretty much clueless on power amps and how much power i will actually need to drive these speakers. I would love some advise on what kind of amp to purchase that will do these speakers justice. Price does matter to me so im looking for decent quality at a decent price (no more than $300 if possible).

Thanks!

Around 200 wpc or lower with high current would be good to start with for under $300.

    Adcom 555.
    Carver
    Parasound etc...

    Wait for other replies.
For smaller rooms, low watt is enough.
Also, SDA need common ground amp.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Thanks. My room is pretty small so im not going to need a tone of power. I will rarely be using a listening volumn of more than moderate-high leve. Im not looking to shake the house or anything.

For smaller room size, Adcom 545 or even 535 will be much better than the Marantz.

Brand new and inexpensive. U wont have to buy another amp for awhile. The 1500 model should suffice.. Im sure the 1000 unit will work as well but the 1500 has the lower noise floor.
My SDA 2's really shine with this amp

    Hafler dh-500 or even a dh-200 would work well. I use a dh-500 with my SDA-2bs and a dh-200 with my RTA-12Bs. You can get a dh-500 for around $300.00 and a dh-200 for less than $200.
