SDA SRS 1.2tl . . .

. . . just came up on Ebay last night in Urbana IL. Owner supplied a few pictures and said these were 1.2tl's even though he said it does not say so anywhere on the speakers. I believe the 1.2 tl's were the only version to have the SL 3000 tweeters. Should it say "1.2tl" somewhere on the speaker? I'd appreciate any help in correctly identifying these speakers. I'll be making a trip this weekend to hear them if everything checks out!!

Personally, I would not even waste my time to look at them unless the seller was willing to take at least 2500 off the selling price and start negotiating from there.

That's too high even if he throws in the amps.

If these are the ones the OP referenced, they are not 1.2's or 1.2TL's. With the blade/blade IC, the SL2000's and the 6503 MW's they are the orginal SDR-SRS. It's stated as so on the add.'65 427 Shelby Cobra

These are not TL's. The price is absurd as others have pointed out. I would think $1200-$1500 would be about right for a pair in this condition."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -

There is one offer.
I wonder what the offer was.

That is a ridiculous price!
It would be way overpriced even at half of seller's asking price. -
The eBay auction was edited to reflect the non-TL status of the speakers.
Seller is purely nuts on the asking price. Apparently, he's trolling for idiots and hoping someone will bite. -
A bargain at twice the price.Political Correctness'.........defined

"Honey, I put those big ones for sale. "
But he wants to keep them so the price.A bargain at twice the price.
That'll still be overpriced for non TL model.

I have seen original SDA SRS's sell for $2500, as a matter of fact I have seen this twice..
-
Thanks for all of the input. Spoke with the seller, asked some questions, and determined these were not 1.2tl's. He then changed the Ebay description. He was not trying to deceive- just "underinformed." The marketplace will determine whether his price is high or not. Are the SL 2000 and the SL 3000 tweeters significantly different?
-
you mean bargain him at half price?
That'll still be grossly overpriced for non tl model. -
He's chopped the price down to $2995.00...
I hope he sells them for that price as that will make mine worth at least 6 grand!:eek:The Gear... Well, I'm still in the market for a pair of 1.2tl's. The owner dropped the price now that he knows what he has. He did not mean to deceive anyone. He seems like a good guy and has a better idea of the marketplace after reading this Forum. Cut him some slack. The speakers probably sound great and someone out there will cherish them at a fair price.

They wouldn't happen to be yours by any chance, would they? Just seems awful strange that you are defending the integrity of an obviously clueless seller that you have never even met face to face...The Gear... Jeez, you guys are way too conspiratorial!! I'm a buyer- not a seller. The seller was evidently in over his head and thanks to the advice on this Forum he has a better idea of the value of his speakers. Nothing strange about that.
-
If that's true, you should tell the seller to come back for more advice. They would have a much better chance at selling their items separately. People don't want to buy speakers and amps together, especially those amps.Political Correctness'.........defined

Someone has contacted the seller and asked a needless, pointless question. Guys, is this really necessary? Leave him alone. Thanks for your input F1nut.

Seriously???? why do YOU care so much? If someone asks the guy a question from this forum, it means they are interested as a general rule. You are really acting more and more like the seller with every post. If you are not, great and just walk away. If you are, then you are violating forum rules and should be warned for selling before 100 posts or banned and the thread deleted. Right now I am thinking the latter. The Gear... Ya know John, I've got to agree with you. As there are no questions posted in the eBay listing how does cmarks175 know someone asked one? Maybe Ken would be kind enough to check cmarks175 IP addy for its location.Political Correctness'.........defined

I saw that coming from the OP's first post, he is definitely the seller, and acting like a ****..
-
I came here asking a simple question because many Forum members have extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for Polk speakers. I count myself in the latter group only. I've had a pair of RTA 15's for 23 years and I'm seeking to upgrade. I thank those who answered my question without questioning my integrity.

Last I saw, he's down to 2K, but now without the amps as part of the deal. Therefore, still nearly a grand too high. Apparently trolling for idiots. We'll perhaps see what they sell for...or don't sell for.
What are 555 IIs going for? He wants $400 each, I was thinking more like $325--$350 plus shipping. I might be wrong, and a guy could do a lot worse than dropping $400/ea on 555 IIs IF THEY'RE IN GOOD CONDITION, packed properly (or local pick-up). No word on the price of the speaker selector. -
Nooshinjohn: If you have the potential to admit when you're wrong, send me a PM. My post count is too low to send a PM to you. Otherwise, I'm done.

I always admit when I am wrong, but see no need to waste precious PM space to do so in this case. As I said before, if you are not the seller, then cool, I really don't care. You started this thread and then assume the position of being mouthpiece for the seller but claim to have no connection... well that's sounds like a load of crap to me and just about everyone else with half a brain.
Then you go off on a tangent "protecting" the seller(you?) from pointless questions? How do you know that information, and who are you to accuse the members here of sending them or determining whether or not they are pointless? Sorry but that dog just don't hunt. If these are yours, good luck with the sale. If not, then adios. The Gear... You say you "really don't care" and then toss a few more mudballs at me?? Your response was a pure dodge. The seller emailed this to me: "Why are the people from your site (the Polk forum) emailing me asking what am I smoking?" And "don't you people have a life?" The email from the Polk forum member was "pointless and needless," unless insults are a someone's idea of a new buying technique. He even gave me a name. Be a stand-up guy; send me a PM.
