polk momo burnt

I got a polk momo 15" 4 ohm dvc subwoofer
-400watts rms
and my amplifier is cerwin vega 500.1 monoblock
rms@4 ohms -300watts
rms@2 ohms -500watts
i connected the subwoofer in series connection @ 2 ohms and it was working good for soo many days.But my subwoofer had burned last day when i raise the bass in my remote bass controller. :(
what will be the reason?
please help me :(

    Where is your gain set? Chances are you clipped the amp by turning it up too far and fried your sub.

    More then likely the raise in the remote control bass is what did it, more then likely distortion had set in causing the sub to go since distortion is a big killer in subs, and if you had it in the trunk you might not of noticed it happening since the back seat usually acts like a distortion baffle!

    Thats actually wired in parallel if that's a monoblock.
