Seems like an outstanding company with a product line that follows suit. I'm half tempted & I only mean 1/2 tempted to try one of their LA150 preamps. I am currently extremely pleased with the performance of my 2 channel system but I'm all for trying something new. All hand made right here in the good 'ole US of A & a solid following of users. Their reviews speak for themselves. Any one ever heard one of their preamp products?

I use the L150 MKII and would have a hard time ever parting with it.

I have gone through many preamps before stopping at the JE LA150 SE.

While it is a tube preamp it is not tubey sounding. Very natural sounding, relaxed but not laid back.

It is the only piece in my system that is bone stock, tubes and all.

I consider the LA150 the heart and crown jewel in my system.

I spent time talking to Jesse and years lusting after one. I am glad I bit the bullet.

Phil, I'd suggest either the older LA-100 MkIII, the current LA-150 MkII or the SE version. The original LA-150 was a bit too sterile. However, the original LA-150 can be upgraded to the MkII version for about $600 or $700, if you found one for a good price.

I have a LA-100 MkIII to which I made a few minor cosmetic tweaks, sound wise I don't hear a reason to touch it.

Jesse. You suggested one of these to me a number of years back. One reason I passed, was because it was not balanced (something I was looking for). Another was because the tubes it uses were some relatively uncommon tubes if I remember correctly (I could be wrong). But, it would make tube rolling difficult because of the tube types involved wouldn't it? However, it sounds like from what you guys are saying it's not necessary; but I find it's always fun to roll......... What say you?

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

The 6350s are plentiful and cheap. Sylvania and RCA are the major brands.

It comes with Sylvania BP D getter 6350s (4) and 2 GE 6EM7s. I prefer the Tung Sol 6em7s and have 1 NOS that I will use if I ever find another to match it with.

That's odd as the building is right next to his house.

Didn't know that.He is certainly up in years though so no surprise I guess if he is calling it quits.
I wonder how many employees he has/had.
