So the other half is heading out for the weekend and I'll be getting some quality time with my rig. I've only listened to it twice since my initial listen to make sure it worked properly after I hooked it all up. Still needs tweaks. The sound is a little different now that it's a bigger/taller room. I've tried to mimic the speaker distance between them as they are distance like they were at the last house. Try to get it as close to how it was and work from there. I'm not sure if I need to pull them a little closer as everything sounds too wide. They are both measured perfectly and I reaaaaally don't want to move them. Tweeter to tweeter they are around 7' for my 9' distance compared to my old 6' between for 8'. Speakers were 11-13" off the back wall at old place compared to 6" off the back wall here. It's mostly error on my part I'm sure.
Don't take what I am saying out of context. The music sounds good. Not amazing. The limitations start showing, (x-over upgrade, no spikes on yet (positioning), current equipment) their flaws with a new room. I am not loving the sound 100% thus far, only 60%. I need to add new spikes and get rid of the OEM black polk ones from the RTiA series I use on my 3.1TL's. Need to finish the x-over upgrades soon! I have also been tossing around the idea to make another radical change.
Aside from needing a DAC after my Squeezebox, I proposed the idea to my other half about either getting a tube pre to replace the B&K. Or replace both the B&K and Adcom amp with a tubed integrated amp. She said yes! So... not sure what to do here.
Going to need remote capabilities either way. Budget is probably $500 total, $300 for pre. This purchase probably wont happen until the fall.
Any suggestions or comments regarding the move to tubes is appreciated!

Perhaps I should have asked what is the best economical choice for me given my gear and location (apartment).

Well some time this weekend has gotten speakers dialed in for location. What a difference a proper laid out room can do for a 2-channel set up. I've never heard the sound stage so wide and so... psychedelic!
Crossover upgrades to be installed in the next couple weeks.
