This is one place where a Polk sub (MicroPro 1000) really shines. This is one very nice 8". And it's available at almost half price, refurbed from Polk!

Owning a MicroPro 2000, I would go with the 1000 (Hard to find used 2000s).

But I would also consider the Pinnacle Baby Boomer. Another solid 8inch sub choice.

Any opinions on the PSW111 or the PSW Pro440Wi for music.

The 440 isn't bad for music, but is not very good for HT. I would probably advise you to look at SVS sb-1000 before you make a decision. It may be a 10 inch sub, but it has a small cabinet. May be a little better choice than either of the Polk subs you mentioned.

I have a Micropro 1000 in my 2 channel and a 3000 in my ht. Both do very well with music, and the 3000 is perfect for music and ht.

I've seen the MP1K go for around $450-500 on NewEgg. At that price, its a helluva sub for any purpose. Honestly? I'd say you'd be better served by investing that dough into a solid integrated, hybrid or full tube. The 70's sing on tubes and will leave you not wanting a subwoofer anymore. I ran a vintage 20 WPC tube receiver on my 70's and the bass was actually overwhelming for my 14x12 room.

Hey thanks for the idea I have plans for tubes also but not now. I do like the Primaluna Prologue Six and just find out that the Onkyo sacd has volume control via the remote.

    Cheers

Somewhere on the Woot site is the Pinnacle Baby Boomer sub for $279. Amazing little sub that I would put up against the 8in Micropros any day. I had to resist the temptation to order one and have my wife order one (limit of 1 per customer).

    Ahhhh...here it is: http://www.woot.com/offers/baby-boomer-600w-dual-8-subwoofer-10

A good sub to support sub-bass and integrate seemless would be a REL. 8" currently on Amazon for $699. http://www.amazon.com/REL-Powered-Subwoofer-Gloss-Black/dp/B008H55MZ8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371742142&sr=1-1&keywords=rel+subwoofer

If you can find a T3, it's the previous model that can be found for less.

I have two of the older version Prosub 80 and they are small but they are very good.
Used ones are insanely cheap nowadays. Less than a hundy.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

Thanks for the info I have been looking at a REL Q108 MK2 $389.00 or REL Storm Subwoofer for $599.00 but have not had a chance to go and hear them out. They are a local audio place.
