I agree. I would hold off and wait for single-tweeter CRS+'s. $230 would be a bit on the high side for CRS+'s. For the original CRS, I definitely pass.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
Really, not that I'm buying these but the only ones to get are the single tweeter model and just at $200 or less. It seems that you guys are all over these like Klipsch nuts go for Hereseys, Cornwalls ect but there are not that many differences only finish type. Maybe a bad example but what you all are now saying just because I see SDA-CRS it has to be a specific model. Now the bigger models do these same rules apply w/ condition ,condition at the forefront.I still got to hear these and how much a second tweeter detracts from the sound. I'm astounded about this.Nspindel I still have not forgot your offer......Lew2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I just thought of this .Couldn't you just jump out one of the tweeters or is that just defeating this models sound? I think I'm going to pummel you guys w/ questions ,to bad I can't keep I continous line of thought going. My bad as the youngins say..lol2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

The second tweeter is a SDA dimensional tweeter. Polk then came to realize that the dimensional tweeter did not really add anything to the overall SDA presentation, and could often produce unwanted artifacts. That's why the later revision, the CRS+, eliminated the dimensional tweeter in favor of the single tweeter not tied to the SDA circuit. Also, you cannot TL the original version, only the CRS+ can use it.
As for condition, you must remember that the only parts that are not easily replaced are the cabinets and the passive radiator. And even the passive radiators do show up on eBay. The most important thing to consider when buying a pair of these speakers is the condition of the cabinets. Scratches and dings can be repaired, veneer and laminate can be re-done, but water damage to the pressboard, cracks, warps, etc. are to be avoided without exception.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -

The issue is not the number of tweeters, it's what the tweeters are being used for. SDA 1C's have two tweeters and they are incredible. I'm fairly sure that those of us who have been around the block a few times with SDA's will unanimously agree that models with dimensional tweeters are less preferable than those without.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. You can just unplug the dimensional tweeter, but it's better to have the single tweeter version.
