SDA-1B, Should I?

Looking at buying a pair of stock 1Bs in excellent condition. I'm guessing for these to be a worthwhile pursuit, I would need to have the capacitors and resisters re-placed as well as the tweeters. Or possibly just purchase new crossovers (with said new caps, etc). Is there a place or person to contact for drop in Crossover replacements for the 1B? I went to the VR3 site which has crossover mods for almost all SDA models 'except' the 1B (I did see the 1C so perhaps that is suitable?). Any thoughts appreciated. Or should I just pass on these?

EXCEPT for the virtual impossibility of using non-common-ground amps, the 1Bs are fine speakers.

If you can solder, you can renew the crossovers (along with other basic mods) yourself in a weekend. It ain't that hard...

It would depend on the price of these speakers and whether they are local and their condition. The tweeters are drop in 4 screws two terminal two lugs. The newer tweeters will cost $48 each + tax free shipping. If you use the new custom boards which makes soldering much easier as the modern capacitors are much larger that will be $50 each for the boards and about $150 in parts for each speaker. So about $500 for both speakers total if you do it yourself.
See this for the parts list here

Far as I know the Gimpod boards don't work with the older SDAs such as the 1Bs. $100 savings right there. Yes, it takes some "creativity" to load the new caps onto the small round boards.

As for new film caps being larger than originals:
