I stumbled across Polk and I have fallen in love with the brand. I was considering the Bose Acoustimass 10 IV when many good people out there recommended Polk and I have spent a couple of days reading up on it. No dealer where I am so forgive me for not being able to audition the various options. I currently have a Sony SRT-S370 out of the box HT and want to upgrade to a more serious setup
  • I am planning to acquire a Sony SRT-DN1040 A/V R
  • To this connected sources are a HD digital satellite receiver, PS3 (which doubles as Bluray player), Apple TV
  • I therefore need speakers and associated subwoofer
  • I cant do tall speakers and prefer less obvious smaller speakers. I have liked the Polk LT1600
  • My budget is within $500 for the surrounds and sub

Please recommend what speakers I should order!

Take a look at Definitive Technology ProCinima 60 Speaker System. I doubt you'll find anything better for the money.

Good suggestion, but in a large room will get washed out. We don't know yet what size room the dude has.

Thanks for your comments guys. I can up the budget to work within $1,000. The room is 5mx4m I believe this is like 16x13 ft. Small speakers and aesthetically appealing balanced with great clean sound is what I am looking for if possible!

I can. Bump up to the tl2 with a quick sub, like a micropro 1000.

    Well color me wrong...

IF your budget for just the speakers is $1k, then you'd be fine with the TL2600, combined with the Sony AVR is $1,350.
Is this what you're talking about spending?

Obieone yes the $1,000 is for speakers/sub only. I already have ordered the Sony AVR. When uou say the room is too big for the TL1 or 2 what is optimal in meters for this unit? DSkip please elaborate on the alternatives you mention in full. I am new to Polk! My closest dealer is in South Africa. The US disqualifies me due to the 110v you use. I use 220-240v!

TL1 and 2 are available in RSA at equivalent $900 and $1,200. If I got the speakers only from US might be cheaper as they are not bound by the voltage limit. Only the sub would!!

@DSkip what do you think about buying the  and then mating with the SW options you highlight?

    Welcome to CP Kalito

TL1/TL2 are ok...but the TL3 series are actually pretty sweet very much worth the upgrade.

Nice pairing the setup with the DSW440 or the 550. I know this is over budget, but would be worth it even getting the sub at a later time.

I am inclined to go with your suggestion. Will import the TL3 5-pack and purchase the SW from dealer (240v compliance). I see I should then have what my heart desires. I think as you say worth over budget!

Agreed, go with the TL3 it's a great speaker. Don't limit yourself to Polk on the sub, any good sub will do just fine. What other brands can you get your hands on there?

All 3 of those things will come with set-up instructions, and alternatives. What works best for YOU will have to be determined.

 Thanks Obieone, indeed they do. Now I am thinking on the 550wi what is the use of the Hz knob on the back. I have mine set at 90Hz. Then on the Sony Receiver for TL350 speakers what could be the best cross-over frequency?
