This question has been asked before but the Subwoofer suggested in that thread is no longer made. Which of Polk's Current offerings would be a good choice. My Onkyo AVR full bass management and LFE settings. It will be used, for now at least, in a 2.1 setup. My totally rebuilt 10B's are fantastic but need a little help with the low frequencies in high dynamic digital recordings

Transmaster - I'm VERY pleased with the DSWPRO550wi sub in use with my Monitor 10Bs (in a 5.1 setup along with a CS400i center and a pair of Monitor 5jrs as surrounds). It pulls double duty (Stereo and HT) really nicely and blends exceptionally well with the vintage Monitor speakers. I also use an Onkyo AVR (TX-SR805). The 550wi can often be had from Newegg for under $300. Here's a thread with some good info (especially posts #8 and #14 ):

You can sign up at Newegg for a "Price Alert" where you can designate what price point you want to be notified (by email) of when it's met on any product you're interested in - ie. $300 on the DSWPRO550wi (currently priced at $500).

I am looking at the Polk Audio DSW PRO 660wi. Amazon has it for 599.95 and because I am an Amazon Prime member I get free 2 day shipping, next day for $3.89 cents. I have an Onkyo TX-NR709. Teekay0007's setup is sort of what I am shooting for I am looking to add a pair of Monitor 7's for the surrounds and one of Polk's current center channel speakers. I just love how these Monitor 10B's sound. What I am primarly interested in is the 5.1 surround FLAC encoded super high bit density music that is becoming available for download from places such as Gimell (http://www.gimell.com/)
Hearing The Tallis Scholars sing Tudor Church Music in the Cathedrals where they were first performed in the 16th century in 5.1 surround is magical

The DSW PRO 550wi has a 10 inch woofer and a 200 watt D class amp
The DSW PRO 660wi has a 12 inch woofer and a 400 watt D class amp

Hmmmm I have some thinking to do

Transmaster - I think you'd be happy with either the 550 or the 660, they're both great subs and both pull double duty very nicely. However, forget about Amazon and give Newegg a look. The 660 goes on sale there pretty often for as little as $329 or $339 with FREE shipping! Just go to their site and request a Price Alert at, say $300 or $350 for the 550 or 660, respectively, and they'll send you an email when it hits your price point. They go on sale for a few days at a time and if you're not checking back you might miss it - but, with the Price Alert that's not an issue. Easy-peasy! Or, if you MUST have it now, go ahead with Amazon for $164 more.

I have two 550's from Newegg that I paid $280 and $300 for, both with FREE shipping and the one I paid $300 for came with a FREE pair of Polk UltraFit 3000 In-Ear Sport Headphones ($100 at BB or from Polk!). They're used in my 5.1 setups with the 10Bs (12 x 15 room) and SDA-2BTLs (15 x 25 room) as my fronts. They can rattle the windows in the HT application (without flab!) in either setting, if I so desire, and blend in very nicely for stereo listening - tight, quick and punchy when necessary.

I have been a customer of Newegg for many years I will go and set up an alert price alert. I was looking at a Dayton Subwoofer Kit at Parts Express they have a acoustic suspended twin 12 in woofer, 1000 watts, 176 pound behemoth but they have not been in stock for months. But when you have had a set of Monitor 10B's purchased new in 1989 and that now sound better then ever Polk is kind of a no brainer.

If your serious about a SUB I would look at other brands other than Polk. SVS and HSU to name a few. For the money Polk subs are ok but you can do better.

Check this one out from SVS. Has gotten good reviews. http://www.svsound.com/subwoofers/ported-box/pb-1000#.Ua5JjmT73yE
Front- RTI A7,(powered by ADCOM GFA 5500)
    Center- CSI5,
Surrounds- RTI 6 and Rear Surrounds- TS 15.
    TV-Panasonic P55ST50
    SUB-SVS PB10-NSD and PSW505
    Receiver- Yamaha Aventage RX-A2000

Yeah, at that six bone mark you can get some serious bang for your buck, and if you we're willing to up it a few hundo' you can get into something that you wont want to replace for years. I'd take a good look at SVS, Outlaw, HSU.

I am not locked into a Polk subwoofer so any such suggest is really appreciated.
