Best Budget Subwoofer?

So after doing a decent amount of research, I notice that Polk audio makes some good sub woofers. But for around the same price of $200ish, BIC has made the F-12 which seems to be a better rated subwoofer. The reason why I ask what is the best subwoofer on a budget of around $200 is because I really want to replace my KLH subwoofer. Even though it is surprising a decent subwoofer, I know there is probably better out there and I am always looking to improve my system

So I will open this up to the community here. What are your thoughts for the best Subwoofer on a budget of around $200? IF you could also explain why it is better than others, that would be great too!

Thanks,

Marc

I currently have a KLH GFX-550. review is this.... Feel the beat (and watch the blue feet) on this booming 125-watt front-firing powered subwoofer from KLH. Equipped with a dynamic cone 10" woofer and built-in amplifier, the sub delivers high and low-level inputs. Features 30Hz-180Hz frequency response and built-in low-pass electronic crossover frequency from 40-180Hz. The feet are illuminated with blue light for ground effects and can be switched off for calmer moods. Includes volume, power and crossover frequency controls.

200 bucks isnt going to buy you a sub thats any better than what you have. You need to step into the DSW polk subs min to get a good one.

Realistically you need 500-600 for any "new" sub that will be worth it and wont have you wanting to upgrade in short order. And used subs unless they are local are going to be not too much cheaper once you factor in shipping.

I bought a PSW125 and sold it and am happier with my LSi 15's running full range than I was with the sub in the mix. If I had known what I do now I would have spent the extra on the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 sub and probably would still have that sub. The 505 is OK but still IMHO a sub you will want to upgrade for.

If it was me I would put that 200 in the bank till you have a higher sub budget. Buy a really nice sub once and then you have the options when you upgrade your fronts to go with bookshelves if you want as the sub can handle the low end with ease.

When you do have more cash, look at HSU, Outlaw Audio, SVS, and Chase Home Theater. All are ID (Internet Direct) so you cant demo them in store, but there are more than enough reviews around and happy customers (on this forum or AVS) to read reviews. Since they are ID you get a better deal for your money.

Try 2 of the Dayton SUB-1200. They go on sale at times for around $100. Thank me later:)
