RTi12 vs LSIM703

Currently have the RTi12's and I'm considering going to a smaller bookshelf speaker for my fronts and the LSIM703's have caught my eye. Do you consider this to be worth the upgrade? From some of the limited stuff I've seen on the 703's it sounds like they're really, really good. I have a carver m-1.5t amp that I would be using to power them.

    I have a friend that moved from a pair of LSi15's to a pair of LSiM703's. He is really pleased with the sound of the bookshelf speakers.

    Of course, he has a really good subwoofer to handle the LFE while watching movies. And/or to handle deep, solid and tight bass while playing music.

    Nonetheless as per his impressions the 703's can punch a decent amount of bass, but by having a good subwoofer you will have even better results (that is assuming you are looking to use these speaker in a different configuration other than two channel).

    So, I don't think you can go wrong with these speakers.

    Well I have to say while I would use them for music, the primary uses would be movies/tv/gaming.

    Also, I have the polk dsw pro 660 sub.

    Would probably hang on to the 12s if you are mostly HT. You certainly have ample juice to power them properly

    Well there seems to be conflicting answers.

    Are these bookshelf speakers worthy of a home theater setup, or should I stick with what I have?

    Pay no attention to my post. Just a weak attempt at humor.

    I definitely think it would be an upgrade...especially for those times when you do listen to music. You might find yourself listening to music more often.

    IMO, the 703's are hands down the better speaker. That said, if you go with them you will need to upgrade your amp and sub for a better 2 channel experience. For HT, they should be ok.

    I would bridge the gap a bit and hang my hat with the 705's instead. I personally have not heard a pair, but from what I have read, they seem to be the sweet spot in the range. You will get a more dynamic sound you are used to from the RTi's combined with the grace and finesse the 703's provide. Best of both worlds IMHO.

    How big is your room? Are you already using 12c's for theater? If so, what are you using for rears and center channel?

    And yes nooshinjohn is correct IMHO...the 705's are pretty awesome forgiving musically, and great for HT speakers....I have heard the complete line in demo HT surroundings and just plain 2chnl.

    If this is a HT setup, stay with the 12s.
