Opinion on speaker hook-up?

I recently purchased a polk 650 sub with a 7600 speaker system. In the speaker manual they recommend hooking the fronts up to the sub and not using the low freq out from the receiver. Thats the way I hooked it up. Does anybody have an opinion on
hooking up the fronts to the receiver and using the low freq from the receiver. I have a onkyo 797 receiver if that makes any difference.
Thanks
Jim

you'll find that both of these wiring methods are acceptable, and both will work. which one is better- that is up to you to decide. many prefer the way that you have it wired now, reciever-to sub-to fronts. it allows for the most 'customization' of your bass management. wired this way, remember to set your reciever to sub-'off/no', and fronts-'large'. you can try hooking up the LFE and see if you like it, but the main benifit of that is ease of hook-up. many recievers (i do not know on yours, but your manual would tell you) have the LFE out prefiltered, which does not allow you to 'tweak' your sub's roll-off frequency to the front's, it's just a designated frequency that it is cut-off at. i hope this helps...

run speaker cables from your receiver front R/L outs to the sub's R/L input's, then from the sub's R/L outputs to your R/L front speakers respectively...
