SACD is awesome

sadly my Panny 210 bluray died the other day so I had to purchase a new player. I decided I wanted to step up and get something better. Oppo would be great but I dont want to spend $300+ and the fact that I work for Best Buy and I can get stuff stupid cheap, I decided to give the Elite players a shot.

I ended up getting a bdp-52fd open item for just under $100 with 4 yr warranty. Its a multi player so it does sacd dvd-a as well as the standard media.

My wife had a hybrid copy of Norah Jones Come Away with me and I popped it in. I am so impressed. I havent even played it on my lsi system yet, just my rti's. I am kicking myself for not getting one earlier.

So now I am on to buying some sacds

Its the sacd for sure. The Bluray outputs bitstream so in theory the AVR is still doing the decoding so the player shouldnt have much of an effect on the sound

No Doubt. One of my biggest issues with new music. Sometimes they don't sound good no matter how good the music is. I'm out of the loop on the new stuff. Need to do some research.
HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

Yeah, wait until you get a really good SACD discs in there. That Norah Jones recording is ok, but it's not a reference recording IMO.

Is there a way to get DSD info through the analog outputs? Does it make sense to have sacd without DSD?

One more thing, will DSD only come over hdmi or will it work with the standard digital input.

Damn.. sounds like I need to start getting aggressive on moving some stuff out of the closet on the net so I can grab a SACD player. I'd prob go with a OPPO 103 if had the chance.

The real question is.. whats some of the best SACDs out there?
Full 5 channel set of Polk Audio
    Fronts - LSiM 705
    Center - LSiM 706c
    Sides - LSiM 703
    Mits WD-82842 82" DLP 3DTV
    Denon AVR-3313CI Receiver
    Emotiva stealth DC-1
    Emotiva XPA-2/Fronts XPA-3 Center-surrounds
    Oppo 103

    Loving the new Family! :)

Yes, DSD can come through on analog outputs.

SACD's high resolution layer is already encoded in DSD. Therefore, the player can do the decoding to analog or output the DSD bitstream, by HDMI, to a HT receiver that can do the decoding.

DSD will only be output by HDMI (version 1.2 or above....I believe the latest HDMI version is 1.4)
