i just got this subwoofer for christmas. i wanted to know if it was a good deal for $400? and i wanted to know if its that good of a subwoofer. it sounds ok, but seems stressed and seems like it doesnt go very deep.
i wanted to know if i should just return it and use the $400 for the purchase of an SVS. my dad said he didnt care if i returned it because he bought it purely based on the fact that B&W make nice speakers, or so he thought.
was it a good deal for $400? how would it compare to say an SVS 20-39 or 22-31 pci?

I'd say you just answered your own question.
There is a b&w sub discussion buried in a recent thread somewhere in the Speakers and Subwoofers section at HTF. I'm pretty sure it is the "Is it important my sub goes to 20 Hz" thread.
Check it out. Other b&w owners said the same thing you did."What we do in life echoes in eternity"
