Advice on DVD/CD players

I currently have a Panasonic DMP-BDT320 player. I really have no complaints with this unit, with the exception of the remote. I personally hate the thing, but fortunatly have a Panasonic tv, so can use that remote for the player. The downside of my little arraignment is that when I play a CD, the tv turns on-using ARC HDMI terminal.
Anyway, I pretty much hate this current arraignment, and thinking of getting another player, just for CDs. Like I said before, I'm satisfied with the playback of my current player, with DVD/BD.s, just hate the remote.
Been doing some looking, and my question is simple. In your opinion, would it be worth the cost to get something like the Oppo 103, and use it strictly for CD's, or should I be looking at something a little different. Maybe another brand, or one without DVD/BD capabilities.
I used the Oppo as an example, just because I've read a lot about them. As far as budget goes, want to keep it under $500, and the less the better. I'm not what I would consider an audiophyle by any means, but would still appreciate advise on decent brands.
Thanks in advance

Well, the oppo is a stellar player. If used for cd's, you might as well use it for BR/DVD too. Sell the other to offset the cost. As far as cheap cdp's to just spin those little guys on, don't know if it's worth it's salt at that price range over what you have. Maybe to correct your problem of turning on the tv, invest in a logitec remote. They are fairly cheap, dependable, and programmable.HT SYSTEM-

I agree with Tony. Get the 103 and forget you had anything else...it really is that good. And the 105...even better. But I digress.
My 2 channel system is home to a Pioneer Elite DV-47A. It is a fantastic CDP for me as it plays DVD, SACD, CD, DVD-A, MP3... And it was picked up on CL for $50.
I also second the Logitech idea."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."
"Unwad those panties and have a good time man. We're all here to help each other, no matter how it might appear." DSkip -
Well you could do what I did I decided to get a MEGA CD player that is it would hold a lot of CD's and then of course I still have my single Blu-ray Dvd SACD player for the other tasks. Of course it helps to cruse the Goodwill"s and such seems like people are unloading these players because of the MP3 taking over you should be able to get one for $20-$30. The Technics and Pioneer are the ones to get I have heard of mechanical problems with the Sony's but they hold more. How can still buy one Sony model new if you wish to have new.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

....or you could hop on the bandwagon of digital music and never touch a cd again.....after you download it. Wi-Fi it all over the house, even in the crapper if you like. :biggrin:HT SYSTEM-
