AMP for M124 12"

I am looking at a single m124 sub for Christmas and I need an amp to power it. I am thinking about a Rockford Fosgate 501s. It is a 2 channel amp and would be bridged to give the sub 500 RMS watts. Is this a good idea? Would I be happier if I gave the sub more watts?

get the power 551s, its a better amp and puts out more watts
that sub can handle 650ish
the 551 will put around 580 watts, thats the amp i use for my mm12, sounds great
