RTi A9 question

I was just looking at the RTi A9's online and wondering what that is on the back of the speaker that looks like heatsink fins? These speakers have no self-amplification listed. Is it some part of the power port?

    It is dual purpose:

A handle since these bad boys are heavy and on the inside of the grill is a cone that points inward towards the port to radiate the sound.

It also helps eliminate the "chuffing" sound that you can sometimes get with ported speakers. And it does make a convenient handle, but I wouldn't want to rely on that.
