Non transferable warranty

Just wondering why some companies give you a transferable warranty and other will not, if you have the original receipt I think the warranty should be honoured no matter who holds it?

    My guess is its a business decision. A warranty is an expense on the company's books. They probably figure some percentage of that expense will go away as gear changes owners, which gives them a bit more profit. Then again there might be a more innocent explanation, but that's my guess.

    If a company won't extend the warranty to subsequent owners as part of the purchase price, then they should offer to extend it to the next owner for a nominal fee - assuming, of course, that the original receipt is valid.
    After all, a warranty is based on a predetermined length of time, not who brings the piece in for repairs...

    But I agree, it's more than likely a business decision based on BF's opinion.
    So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?
