I'm looking for a good center to match a pair of original SDA 2 speakers for I think my B&W CMC just isn't blending as well as i had hoped. Sometimes I really have to crank the volume more than I think I should just to be able to understand the dialog in movies.
I apologise if this has been asked before.

+1 on the CS400/CS400i as a center with the SDAs!!

I have the 400 and the 400i as centers in my Monitor 10B and SDA-2BTL fronted 5.1 systems and have absolutely NO complaints about them. In fact, I'm very impressed with both of them.

Tekkis, I hope this is close enough on base to not be considered hijacking your thread. I am also trying to match a good center for my SDA SRS 2 set being the front. I've heard that the CSi5 and CSi6 are good matches, so I hope that helps you out. And I hope feedback we get from my question also helps us both.

Above I am reading that the CS350LS is also something for us to consider.

I have a unique opportunity, in looking for the center first, next I was going to be looking for side-surrounds and rear-surrounds. But there is a whole Polk 5.1 system for sale near me. They have S8 for fronts, R10 for surrounds and the CS400 (what I was considering) for center channel. If the consensus is that the CS400 would be a good match... and I could take their S8 and make those my side surrounds... and the R10 as my rear surrounds... would the group feel that would be a good matching with SRS2 as the fronts?

proffitt, the CS400 is a perfect match as a center for any of the SDAs being used as fronts. Your front three (L/C/R) speaker soundstage is where you want to be sure to have proper timbre matching and you most certainly do with the CS400 and your SRS 2s. From there, having it in the surrounds/back surrounds is nice, but far from crucial. I think what you're suggesting for a surround setup would work very nicely for you. I think you'll like both the S8s and the R10s. My only concern would be with having the space for the S8s as side surrounds, but a great sounding setup if you do. You could even consider doing a 5.1 with just the R10s or S8s as surrounds and using the unused pair as a separate 2-channel stereo - the S8s make a very nice sounding 2-channel stereo setup, the R10s are great alone for workshop, garage, workout room, etc.

I just got back home from picking up the CS400 from a fellow Polker from the club. Thanks Goofy!!!
I haven't hooked anything up yet... but it looks and feels nice and heavy. The S8s are bigger than I thought they'd be, but I don't ever see that as being a problem. As long as they don't block the view of the screen...haha. This is going to be a good sound.

Tekkis, look for the CS400. Or the 350 too I'm sure is a great fit. Actually, when I first read your post, and thought to post here too, I thought we had the same speaker model. SDA 2... SDA SRS 2... I should have paid more attention.

But for you the 350 or the 400 would I think be a perfect fit. I know somebody in the club that has a 350 for sale... I'll see if I can introduce you.

I realized that after I posted in your thread. However I think the 350 or 400 would be a good timbre match for you. There is a guy.... "Mystery" here in the club that has a 350 that you might ought to look at. Mystery was a help to me in the modifications of my SRS 2... Otherwise no affiliation. Just trying to help out two fellow polkies.
