Hey guys, I'm looking at the set of LSi's in the for sale thread. Here's what I'm wondering about. I've got a fairly big room - 16x25 roughly, I listen to a lot of music and I'm wondering if the 9s are going to fill the space like my current 12s do. Will 9s and a sub make this better? I like my bass for sure! Thoughts anyone?? I need to decide kinda quickly.

You'll need a subwoofer for sure. Like we say, nothing like a large radiating surface area.

For bass is what your talking about right?

I assume the upper speaker array of the lsi15s is exactly the same as the 9s basically. Just need a good sub to catch the lower levels sooner. XO at 80hz or higher do y'all think?

The 9s are the upper section of the 15s. You are correct.
They also dig a lot lower than most people expect.
I would XO at 60hz with 9s. They are more than capable.
That Parasound will give you 300wpc into 4 ohms. Which is going to be plenty for that room size.

As for a sub, there truly are TONS of good options out there.

Yeah I am still planning on the svs in my sig. Should handle nicely.

So those 9s are going to fill my space well?

I would say if you cross the over you should be fine...

if you let them go full range you may find their limitations quickly..

The LSi9's are not RTi12's..you need a really good sub to come close. Will the 9's fill that size room..that i don't know. I have a little larger room then yours..the 12's fill it. The 9's..i'm just not sure.

The 12's i fire strait ahead in the room....the 9's may be hard pressed to do that. But i'm not sure. You pretty much have to try them out. See what you think and if they do the job for you.

This is what I'm afraid of going from tower to bookshelf. Also, we are planning on moving and the next LR we have is bigger than our current one. I can't try them either, they would be bought unheard...

I would suggest re-capping the 12's and stay with what you've got over the 9's. In the larger room that you will be moving them into, I would consider looking for SDA's or the 15's instead.

I had LSi7s for a bit, with a sub, driven by a high wattage amp (400W/chnl 8ohms) from my AVR in my family room 14x16 - open on one side to the kitchen.

    Was it room filling volume?

It was 'stupid loud' clean and rocking.

If you are trying to recreate the dBs of a Who concert, then it is more about the power source than the speakers, imo.
