Hey guys I just ordered a Polk CS400i center channel and I got to join this club. Boy is that sucker heavy! Can't wait to test it out but my cd player is still on the way and the DVD player has to wait till christmas Well I was wondering if you guys could give me some help. I chose the CS400i because I have Eosone mains which I'm sure you know went out of business and I could not find an Eosone center anywhere. So basically I thought I would replace my mains with Polk mains later. So my question to you guys is: Should I go with the Polk 1000i or 2000i mains? Oh and on the CS400i center channel does it matter which binding posts I use since I am not bi-wiring? Thanks for the help in advance.

1000 or 2000 I would say bigger is better but that is an uneducated reply, I have not listened to both at the same time to tell if it worth the extra cash, they seem to be on sale everywhere so take advantage and buy what best suits you.
If you are not bi-wiring, most will agree the stock jump is trash, make small jumper out of your speaker wire and replace the jumper with that. I usually connect to the high freq. binding posts, if there is any signal loss I want my highs to sound their best.Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
Outlaw ICBM - crossover
Beringher BFD - sub eq
Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

First, welcome to the gang!
The 400i is muy cool. I think the manual says that it doesn't matter as long as the jumpers are in place....
As far as fronts, give 'em each a listen and decide, that is the best way to decide.

Allen, welcome to the club. Yes the cs400 is very cool. I simply tell people when choosing between the 1000's and 2000's. The speakers mid and highs are basicly the same. The 2000's will have tons more bass with thier amplified 8's. If you have a really poweriful sub that you are satisfied with you could go as for as getting the rt55i or rt800i. But if you like two channel music alot, the rt2000 would rock! The cs400 you can use either post but make sure the bridge is firmly in place. As i often have to repeat ---my 2cents
Hopes this helps and have fun with your new Polk toys. Later  -
Ok so either one is fine. Great. Thanks for the help guys. I think the 2000i would be more than I need since I will have a kickass subwoofer in about a month. I'll have to give the 1000i and 800i's a listen.

the cs400i is an amazing center. good choice! as for upgrading your fronts. i would choose the 2000's over the 1000's, but if you have a good sub, i would demo the 800's as well. i was between the 800's and 1000's and preferred the 800's for HT. CC has the 800's for $600 right now, which is a great deal on these speakers. there are alot of deals to be found on the 1000's and 2000's as well, so keeps you eyes open. demo all three, and see what you think is best for you...

if your now debating between the 1000's and 800's, then by all means go for the 800's. Better mids and fuller sound. They sound great too for music without a powered sub, specially if u have a decent amp.
And, since ur already getting a "kiler" sub, go for the 800's. -
I have both the 1000i's and the RT55i's. The 1000's sound great with movies as well as the 55's, but imo the 55's sound better for music. If I knew when I was going to buy the 1000's that I would have the PSW650 sitting nearby, I would have bought the 55's and saved some money. CC currently has the 55's for $400 a pair vs $1000 for the 1000's.
With the CS400 they both sound great, so if you plan on getting a powered sub, save the cash and go with the 55's.
MY SYSTEM:
DENON AVR4800
DENON POA5200
PANASONIC RP56
TOSHIBA 57HX81
1000i's lf/rf
CS400i c
f/x500i's ls/rs
RT35i's sbl/sbr
PSW650 sub
Good luck -
I agree. Go with smaller mains (I like the 55's alot, or even the 35's) for your fronts, pocket the difference, and buy a good sub. You'll be much happier!
I'm a big fan of small monitors for HT... Get a great sub and the sound is cleaner, tighter, and just as room-filling as a bigger setup. I setup my dad's home theatre with that in mind (B&W 805's) and mine in the same vein a few years later (B&W DM302's). I couldn't be happier. Sounds far better than any of my friend's systems with larger floorstanders.
You DO need a sub with such a setup, though. Your budget is fairly large.. I'd recommend going to a good hifi shop and buying an excellent >$600 sub. I picked up a Velodyne VLF-810 and love it.. Although if I had a bigger HT room I would have wanted the 10" version. -
He he... love this.. I've tried them all.. 800's, 55's, 1000's, 2000's. What I found best for me..and I stress me were the 2000's... and I do have a large listening area. I also have a real beefy sub- velodyne ct150.... I can listen to music all day and rock with home theater.... See if you cant go and compare each one with one of your favorite movies or music is best.... and see what you like.
Right now..i'm actualy running the 2000's..but also have a set of 55i's on top of em...the sound is killer...:)
one thing..like circuit city.. I know every one hates that store...but you have a 1yr upgrade program..so if you get one..and dont like it in 6months..you can upgrade to whatever...anyway..good luck and good hunting
btw..that cs400i is killer center channel
