Technics Recievers

Does anyone know anything about the Technics line of H/T recievers? In particular, the SA-DX1050. I have'nt been able to find any type of review info other than the sales pitches on the retailers sites. I did read where the DX950 had a problem with heat build up. I've had a couple of Technics units(Pro-Logic Surround)and for the most part(In my novice opinion of course)they've been pretty decent units for the price. Thank's for any help.

Personally, I am not terribly impressed with Technics. My wife had a Technics rack system that we used until about a year and a half ago...For not that much more wampum you can get a basic Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, Marantz etc. etc. receiver that performs much, much better.

hey... before you plunk down that wad of cash on technics, check out other receivers in its price range, i was looking a few months ago and noticed that yamahas, and other receivers have better build quality and i think the one you're talking about has no front inputs and to me that's just being cheap. Besides not many people have bought these so you can't a real good feel as to how the unit performs long-term. But it's just a suggestion, go to www.crutchfield.com as a start and see price ranges that are comparable to the technics and i'm sure you'll find something you like then buy it in-store or online...
Well happy shopping,

The receiver you refer to won a Consumer's Reports best buy judgement in a recent test (few months back) placing second only to an $800+ Onkyo or Nakamichi (can't remember which it was). Based on that I bought one and am very happy with it. It's a great receiver for the money.

Not too long ago Consumer Reports named Bose as a best buy as well. I take anything that they publish with a huge grain of salt.
