1st off thanks alot for the heads up on those SDA-CRS from C/L .They do look very tempting but now since I have this real desire to go after those Vandersteens I talked about plus they are not the bigger versions that most of you drool over I might look but probably not.
Now to my question. Forget a minute the DCM TIME FRAME 350s, they by themselves area totally different animal in terms of design and are quite happy w/ the imaging and sound stage so they will more than likely always be here.
What I do not understand is the comparison between my ADC 303AX and the Infinity SM112s which I still have not yet unloaded. The ADC AX has a very tight but clear sound sound w/ plenty of bass for a walnut cabinet of 24"x11"x13.It has a 10" woofer w/ butyl or cloth surround and I beleive a 3" tweeter closed box no ports and to me has a very east coast AR type of sound and it's a good speaker. Now the Infinity SM112 @ 30"x 13"X12 deep.It is a tower w/ a rear
port. Inside a 10" a 4" mid and a tweeter. Now for the comparing both w/ my own other pairs plus most of you already have a distaste for them and then after hearing much superior speakers what is wrong so w/ these. I knock on the back of cabinet and it's as hollow as the sound it emitts .(I might be be exaggerating a bit)So is it design, just inferior drivers or marketed for that dorm room basement party sound you guys talk about. As a side note by far they are the loudest speaker @ the same volume vs. any other pair I have.

Can't help you with the infinity's, but I had a pair of the ADC 303's and was quite impressed with them. The highs were a little rolled off with the older tweeter design but was a nice balance overall. I had one good speaker and the other someone had mangled the cabinet putting a different tweeter in so I sold them for parts. If you want to unload the ADC's down the road I might be interested but shipping would be a pain from Jersey to TN.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

They are most likely more sensitive drivers. Some of the older Infinity's were 101db vs. most at 88db sensitivity so therefore the infinity's would be a louder speaker at a given setting. -
PitD, Thanks that appears to be the most logical expalation. ,now because of the high db is this the sensitiveity or efficiency people talk about .Klipsch are know to be super effecient and to not need alot of power to get them going . I have found the same thing between all the speakers I have had. The Bose 601s needed alot to push them and they were the only speakers while running loud ever got my Adcom warm.I'm not certain but I think sensativity and effecency are 2 different things, after a while the Infinitys will give you a headache.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

My thought is that Bose are so overrated most of the time..Receiver: Denon 1912
Speakers:
Fronts: Polk Audio Monitor 70s (x2)
Rears: Polk Audio Monitor 50 (x2)
Center: Polk Audio Monitor 70
KLH Sub GFX-550 -

it would be the efficiency of said speaker. Klipsch is a perfect example -
nevermind.........

I would stil look at those SDA CRSs if I were you. If you like the TF-350s, you'll love the SDAs. Think of them as having even better soundstage and imaging then the TFs (I've owned several pairs including the 350s), while having much better bass. The only advantage the TFs have over the CRSs is they are easier to drive. I know you were wanting to hear about the other speakers but my dos centavos is I would still strongly consider them. The CRSs are no slouches even compared to other SDAs.

I would have never thought that those smaller versions of the SDAs were lets say almost comparable to their big brothers .I have not mailed the guy yet ,but after the weekend I might give it a shot.I'm glad you do agree w/ me about the TFs and are pretty good. Even better a friend of mine out west has a pair of the VERY RARE Time Windows 7 which are heirloom never leave the family type of speaker .Only 200 pairs were made back inthe 70's.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Wow TW7s! I would love to get my ears on those. I have a set of TW3s that I enjoy very much. A buddy of mine just picked up some Timeframe 1000s from the same perosn I got my TW3s from. I can't wait to hear those. Back to the SDA CRSs, they are very well regarded by many SDA owners including myself that have or have had larger models. In small to medium sized rooms they are more ideal than some of the big boy SDAs. Having said that my same buddy who just got the TF1000s has a set of original CRSs and he plays them in a very large room. They fill the whole room from wall to wall with good sound. They may not have the overall impact of the big boys, but they sound really good and you'll be really hard pressed to find a better sounding speaker for the price. They only get better with upgrades......
