Hi everybody,

I'm new here because I just bought couple of Polk speakers in the last 3 months.

As you can see in my signature, I need a new rear center because the one I have is not a Polk audio and he's not mine too.

Should I take a CSi3 (279$cd)because there is no more CSi30 in Quebec

OR

I can buy a pair of R15 (199$) an put it behind in parallel. i will Have 16 ohm but i can ajust the sound higher for them. With this option, I will be 7.1 ready :)

What do you think about that?

I think you may be a little off. If you wire your R15's in paralel, you would halve the resistance, if you wired them in series you would double it.

You could probably order another CSi30 over the net, or maybe upgrade your center and move the current one to the rear.

Getting a new set of 15's is not a bad idea, just be sure your receiver can handle a 4 OHM minimal load.

    hope it helps...

i dont know if its a good idea to have 4 ohm and 8 ohm loads running at the same time. im not sure about this though.

first u need to make sure ur receiver can even handle 4 ohm loads. i would avoid the hasel of getting 2 speakers as a rear center. u can buy the pair but only hook up 1 and when u upgrade to 7.1 you can add the other.

you could aslo get a center for 6.1, and then get another for 7.1 and use the two centers as surround channels. i think doc does this with cs245i's.

    good luck

Oops, I wanted to say in series, so I will have 16 ohms instead of 8. My receiver can only handle 4 ohms for the front speaker.

I don't want to put just one R15 at the back because I think It will be not enough. I have R20 for surround and they are more than twice the size of the R15.

Add one center is the best way for now BUT it cost way much then a pair of R15.

And if I buy a CSi3, should I put it in the back or replace my center (CSi30). Or both of these speaker will sound the same way with my front (R50)

I really don't know what to do. If only I could find another pair of R20.

Check out the driver complement in the specs portion of the product description. If the tweeters are of the same compositon, most likely that model is designed to match timbre for seemless imaging.

I personally would replace the upgraded, as long as the match was there, but that's me.

It's all about personal tastes. Experiment....

I checked in Future Shop's system yesterday, and it showed a CSi30 in the Lachenaie, and one in a Quebec City store(Fleur de Lys?)for $149.99(CDN). The only other Eastern store that had one was Moncton, NB. If you went into any Future Shop, they should be able to transfer you one(if they're willing to take the time to call the other store).

Thank you North51. But maybe i will change my plan. I saw that the R30 will be at 199$ for the pair during the boxing day at Futureshop so I think I will replace my R20 for the R30 and put my my R20 at the back.

IMO R20 sound like the R30, the only difference is that one is a floorstanding and the other one is bookshelf.

149$ for a CSi30 or 199$ for a pair of R30. I will have have to choose between.
