High quality vintage turntables can meet or exceed the performance of newer/current production tables. However these vintage tables in excellent condition are rare and thus priced accordingly. Compliance of the arms will dictate what cartridges you can install on them. Adding weight to the cartridge body will increase mass and thus improve compliance but will most often require a heavier and possible custom made counterweight. Parts/service could be a future concern with the vintage gear.

I had a Yamaha YP-D10 that some felt would be on par with a Technics SP-10 MKII had they moved the power supply outboard. The YP-D10 had a wood plinth and a tonearm with adjustable VTA.

I prefer linear tracking tables over pivot designs if you are looking at vintage tables. IMHO, my PX3 outperforms the two tables you cited. I picked mine up for 400.00, new in the box. I run a Sumiko Bluepoint EvoIII on it and it is magical. The PX-2 is considered to be even better...
