See it comments like this that drive me nuts because its coming from mods that don't seem to know gear.

"Avoiding negative feedback is another obsession that isn't very well rooted in fact."

The Bias is how much power is always being consumed by the amp. So from idle to low volume all the way up to the limits of class A operation (35 watts for the 1L in high bias mode), the amp should pull the same power from the wall (well, we live in the real world, not a theoretical one. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's not 100% true, but you get the point).

Further discussion of the new amp:
"I guess you could say calling it "Class A mode" is a marketing decision. We just wanted to make sure that people understood that the XPA-1L really is a Class A amp up to 35 watts - and so is comparable in sound quality to any other "35 watt true Class A amp", but with massively greater power reserves. We feel that the confusion about this subject often leads to people assigning an unreasonable amount of "mystique" to "real" Class A amplifiers - and paying way too much for them. You can easily pay five or ten times the XPA-1L's price for a 35 watt Class A amp that is ONLY 35 watts - Class A. We think the XPA-1L gives you a lot more bang for your buck"

See, for most of us here, this is the thought process. And a lot of the above coming from a mod is not correct IMO. Also I don't think people really do research things like Class A etc and that is why I still to this day come here. At least people hear READ about circuts etc and understand differences. That is why they recommend different things and I'm thankful they do.

Also another point, I'm really not cool with someone saying they are calling their amp a "Class A Mode" as a marketing plot. Once again making someone think their gear is something it's not is 1. Stupid, and 2. misleading.

and oh look, http://www.odysseyaudio.com/products-stratos-mono.html Class A/AB and 2500 bucks for a pair while the XPA-1L is 1400 for their pair. Not seeing how its a class A/AB like theirs that cost 5-10X more..oh and made in USA too. Hmm.

Really? First Polk can't remove posts on other forums. You have to have some form of administrative access. Is this enough of an answer to your "care to elaborate?". Really, you didn't get the point from the get go? Keep in mind I haven't seen a single forum trash Polk speaker the way Emo is trashed here. I was 'supposing' a forum. I don't know all the sites out there so maybe it does exist.

    Second find this post here:

I don't understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

I"m an intelligent guy, and I'm seriously not following you. Let's try asking the questions another way, what EXACTLY is the point you're trying to make?

I just met you, this thread is the first time I can think of that I've run across your posts, and your little defensive, antagonistic and aggressive attitude is annoying.

Skip is right, looking back we got through a whole first page of back and forth discussion without any problems, it wasn't until you took offense to a post by Brock (which was totally general opinion by the way and not directed at you) that this thread started to turn south. John jumping in later didn't help things any, but your post is the one that got it started down that direction.

I don't know what part of the Emo forums you read but a quick look on there reveals many people complaining about something or another, just like here..
Things must have changed, for the brief period I browsed that board, it was common for negative threads to disappear.
