driving Vandersteen Model 2Ci
Picked up a nice pair off CL & for $100 got an Adcom GFA 5200 (50 wpc) and a Cambridge C50 pre. Listened last night & the Adcom was crisper & more clear in the mids & high range than my 100 wpc NAD receiver (NAD 7400). But the bottom end was sorely lacking. Is it a characteristic of Adcom equipment that it is a little light on the bottom or do you think the 50 wpc is not enough oopf to drive the Vandies (they are not terribly efficient). I really liked the Adcom, so did my wife. I'd look for a more powerful unit if consensus is that amp is just too small for the application. TIA.
