Hello POLKS,
Just worried about my saltwater tank surrounded with speakers. I need to know what are the limits. Regarding the soundwave penetrating through the glass/ water, is this a fact???. If this is true, this will cause stress to my SWFish. Please advise.

I've had fish before and the high frequency and mids never seemed to bother them too much. Now if you get a potent subwoofer I would try to place it as far as practically possible away from the fish tank. Some of our members have cracked drywall and tv screens with some of these subs. If you get one of these subs and there is a ripple to tidal wave effect going on and one of the fish starts sporting a surf board.. then yes I can see where this may cause some stress and concern;)

Okay, I was trying to be funny.. but really you should be able to tell right away when you get your sub.

Welcome to the Polk Forum by the way and Happy Holidays!

Welcome to the forum. You should not have any problems with the fish unless you set the tank on top of the sub and let it rip, other wise I don't think there could be a problem. The glass thickness and the pressure of the water against it should resist any real disturbance. The cracking of drywall and big screen TV screens is nothing I heard of to be true but coincerns have been raised and have been dismessed as far as I can remember. I have had no problems. I see you have the sub part of your system marked still shopping, Hummmm do the letters SVS mean anything to you :D .

    Good luck

My 120 gallon SW tank is about 6 feet from my Tempest and I have had no problems. The fish are fine but I have experienced much drywall cracking. As for stress which is always a concern in SW, I have had the same fish for a few years now, it doesn't seem to bother them.

I stand corrected. I haven't had any problems thank god, although at first I would probly laugh until it dawns on me that I will have to fix it.

I would like to someday, crank up my subwoofer and my balls explode. Perhaps it would end this audio madness.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
