    My top 2 ever.

From scratch, never leaving this house!
I built this pair with used parts.
The thing is, no one ever gets a view of such cables........
EVER, and I am the only one that has ever heard them!
I built them and no one gets to comment to the rest of the world.

Rest assured.......these bastoids have a story to tell!
They are damn good, and no-body has EVER SEEN them!
    Now they have seen em:cheesygrin:!
    And that feels good!

Its just that you won't ever hear it, as I have my doubts they will ever leave the house.

Well at the moment......Atoll pre and B&K amp (140 watt amp) Klipsch speakers.

IC's don't stay around here long, but these have been here for a couple of years!

Not the best, but I like em!

The fact that no one has ever seen them, I wanted me to post a pic!

    They are not going anywhere!

I have a little different problem here. My Denon DP-11F seems to both the ac cord hard wired and the RCAsw/ gnd. internally positioned so one can't use different cables w/o going to couplers then the new cables which would defeat the purpose to begin with. I did not turn over or pull on any of the cables for me they were long enough and sound ok or as best as they can for right now.

Aren't both the 2534 Mogami and the Mogami 2549 very nice balanced cables? Not something that I would use for a RCA interconnect.

They can be used either way, depending on how you wire them.
I find them to be very dynamic and detailed in an unbalanced configuration, with good connectors.
I would stay away from the 2534 for phono duties because of the star quad configuration and associated capacitance.
That said, if you take them out of their factory tubes, and use each conductor individually (unshielded) they become a totally different monster.

I prefer to make from scratch, but I have tried 3 different Mogami types so far, and thought they were all great bang for buck.

I am surprised they are not more popular with audiophiles.

I have read of people rewiring with computer mouse wiring.
That may be an option, but I am sure it is more difficult than it sounds.

You should get ahold of Carl on this board, he would be more familiar and a hell of alot more knowledgeable about such things.

I can't remember his exact screen name, I will find out and get back with ya.

Funny, I use Signal Analog II's between my TT an phono pre, and I don't find the sound to be veiled at all.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Maybe just with my setup. I mean, it doesn't sound nasty or anything...it just seemed to take a little life out of the recording (Brubeck & Rushing).

I've actually left them on there to see if I would like the sound after awhile, and it's good...I just want to try one or two more before I settle on something.

Are they brand new? Maybe they just need some hours on them.

I think that is a good idea.
Those Kimbers you posted should serve you well also, I have never heard them, but it would be an easy search to get opinions, and that seems like a fair price, and should be an easy "resell" if you don't like them.

I'll try to get a pair of the Mogami's headed your way for you to try.
I'll have to borrow them from another member, as I have none on hand here.
I think you will like them.

The only type of cable that I would use for an RCA analog interconnect is a co-axial cable. Mogami makes several suitable co-ax cables. Just because other types of cables can work, doesn't make them good choices and the better cables are often less expensive.

    Having just written:

'Mogami makes several suitable co-ax cables.'

I went to my Mogami catalog and I couldn't find any suitable co-ax cables!

For a paper on suitable cables see:

Plugged the silvers in yesterday and listened to a couple albums. Listened to Getz/Gilberto with Astrud vocals. And also one of my go-to albums Brubeck/Rushing. Tonight I listened to Buddy Guy and Junior Wells "Alone and Acoustic" and am now listening to DSOTM.

I'm not yet great at breaking down exactly what I am hearing, but I usually focus on vocal clarity, cymbals, bass and overall "realness."

I really like what I am hearing so far. Slightly more real sounding than the signals and more clarity all around. More bass as well. Bass is something I am always wanting more of so that is a plus for me. I know these recordings well, and there is definitely more bass.

They may not be the end all, but definitely something I am happy with.

Thank you all VERY much for the time and recommendations. Just another step on my journey.

    Paul

Good deal! Glad you are enjoying the Kimbers and they worked out for you. I have always been curious about Kimbers. I would like to try them one day, but I'm quite happy with the Analysis plus ICs and SCs I'm currently running. I might not get around to trying another cable.

Paul, you may want to try AudioQuest sidewinder---clean, clear treble. Just handle with care, they are solid copper conductors.
