I got an amazing deal on the normally priced at $699 Polk FX/Ai6's, they were very very slightly damaged, and by that I mean a corner was pressed in the smallest amount, but since they werent perfect this store I live near sold them to me for I think it was around $350 or $400. This store happens to be, or was last I knew the biggest supplier of high end speakers on the internet, Audioclassics.com. and I just so happen to live 5 miles down the road!! So my front speakers and my polk surrounds I got from them for crazy good deals. I just replaced my aging sony receiver that had no HDMi with a Denon 2309 CI that retails for $900 new, but a few years old. The difference this receiver made to my system is incredible. The only downfall is most of my speakers are rated up to 150 watts, like the Ai6's but even this $900 Denon is base rated at 100 watts, and I think it says it peaks or something around 170 ? not sure what that means, so is it 170 watts per channel is possible?
I have a 5.1 channel system and never thought I would go for the surround back speakers, because they are so hard to find a spot for one thing usually, and would be here where I live now, I would have to wall mount them, and they would stick out over my couch, and those Ai6's are big! but the sound is so amazing, When im watching a movie that has good sound in it these polk audio speakers are incredible how they perform, I literally didnt know surround sound could be so good. The crispness of gunshots, and how sometimes it sounds like there really is something right there behind me.
but I cant get $699 for a new pair. I was going to post in the classifieds but I guess you need 100 posts to be able to, plus shouldnt it be all polk speakers? I guess its good to find other stuff too. but there could be someone with FX/Ai6;s right down the road who will sell a 2 year old pair for $200, but they dont have 200 posts.
Does anyone have an opinion on adding another pair to my system? MY room is not very big. Its about 20 feet long by 9 feet wide. I have the surround speakers not at the very back of the room but more at the back of my listening area. I used to have them in the corners but I think the way my room is that it blocked the sound that way.
any thoughts? anyone have 4 FX/Ai6's powering both the surround and surround back and love it?

I believe most guidelines recommend monopoles for rear surrounds.
Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed when I moved to 7.1. When I set everything up with YPAO, I really didn't get much from the rear surrounds at all. In order to get any appreciable substance from my rear surrounds, I have to run them very hot. It could definitely be a setup issue, but I wasn't that impressed.Polk Fronts: RTi A7's

I can see how that would happen. so i see you have the ai6's in your surrounds too, but got diff ones for the rear surrounds. In the diagram in the manual for the ai6's it shows them being used for both surrounds.AVR- Denon- 2309 CI

it kinda stunk that to get those new ai6's for that cheap price they had to be the white ones, which dont match my other speakers, plus surprisingly i can see some spots of discoloration whivh im sure over the years will get worse and worse, i looked into replacing the front mesh grille's with black ones, but you need 4 of them, and they were like $40 a piece!!AVR- Denon- 2309 CI
