I built myself a nice little ported box for my infinity kappa perfect 10.1d thinking it would be nice and peachy when it was done. I built it to the right volume and port diameter/length but i'm getting some nasty cancellation. I put the port on top of the box and its just about 3" (or more) from the sub and walls. I tried turning the box every which direction in my car with the port and speaker not facing down. No luck. Can I do anything like lengthen the port to help cancellation issues or am I stuck with the problem of having to build another box? It sounds like utter crap having only 35-40hz notes and the rest just completely gone.

Thats why I shy away from ported boxes and especially bandpass boxes. If done right they rock, if off by a little theyre crap. You may just want to consider it carpentry practice and build yourself a nice sealed box.
