Subs and speakers wiring question.

So I plan on getting Polk PSW10's along with Sony SS-B1000's

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SS-B1000-4-Inch-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B000OG88KY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1E6994UVV2B24&coliid=I1QEAQT2J940H

So how do I go about on wiring this? Can I just wire the speaker cables that are from the sony speakers into the subwoofer itself and then use an RCA to 3.5mm for audio source which will be plugged into the PSW10s in the Line in slot. Would that work or do I need an amplifier? If I do need an amplifier, can I use this?

Do I need any additional things?

    Hello alexandled,
Welcome to Polk's forum. You're going to need an amplifier to power the speakers, the subwoofer will power itself, but there isn't anything to power the speakers. Most people would get a good quality stereo receiver (a receiver is an amplifier with a built-in FM/AM tuner) that would allow any source components to be connected and provide power for the speakers.
    Regards, Ken

Thanks for the reply kenneth! So something like this wouldn't work?

would it need to be like 100 watt stereo receiver?

No problem, glad to be of help. No, I'm afraid that wouldn't work very well, you would have to buy a 12 Volt power supply to run that amplifier in your home. The amount of amplifying power you would need would depend upon a few factors. How large is your listening area, what type of music do you listen to mostly and what are your playing volume preferences?
Look at brands such as Denon, Technics and Onkyo as examples of moderate priced good sounding receiver companies.

The PSW10 is already powered, so you only need a receiver/integrated amplifier that can power the speakers, but provide sign out to the subwoofer. How much are you wanting to spend? Where are you located, and does your local craigslist have many options?
