a while back there was a thread about rewiring the internals of what I remember was a B&K St-140? I have searched and searched this morning and can't seem to find it anywhere.... can anybody help me out please?

Steve your pm's are full so I cannot respond to your inquiry.
Sorry, but I had to make some room on Photobucket, and I believe all the pictures are gone.
I would be happy to help, if I can, so don't hesitate to pm me.
Just a little tweaking on those B&K's and they are a whole new animal!:cheesygrin:Testing

oooops... sorry and thanks pepster! pm's cleared.... thought i had done that but my Sent items overfloweth.
will do ... i have no experience inside of an amp, so not too sure, but what you did looks interesting. I just got the amp, so I should probably take a little time to get to know it... and i need to get Trey the inductors from my Infinity RSbs... i think i have a busy summer ahead.Polk Lsi9

Just keep in mind you will need to drain those caps before any work begins (before you even start poking around under the hood).
Take lots of pics before doing anything.
Mine is a ST-2140 and I have had it for years, and still had to refer to the pre-tear down pics once.
Really it does not take much to make great strides in SQ on these amps.
Mine is mostly point to point, and I mainly wanted to eliminate some of the silver plated copper wire they used and get rid of the molex connectors in certain signal paths.
I could not be happier with the results.Testing

Binding posts, rca input upgrades, along with IEC input/wiring (not really necessary), and getting rid of the molex connectors on the IC input board, with soldered wire directly to the rca inputs.
Thats about all that is needed.
I went ahead and tore down my main output boards (speaker wire to the binding posts), but thats not really necessary (although every thing does make a difference!).
That last part is the most difficult, so make a plan with the simple mods (and they are simple with some precautions), and you will be tickled to death, won't even sound like the same amp (much, much better:cheesygrin:).
Damnit send it to me, I'll do it!
Its fun man, and does make a difference (easily heard)!Testing

a problem has arisen... i am getting crackling/ signal loss from the right channel.... I am in contact with the seller. I was a no refund sale, but they are a stereo shop in New York and he is going to try to please me. I am currently trying simple things (cleaning, De_oxit switches) etc.....
and thanks pepster... we will see what the outcome of this situation is. Maybe if I can figure this out or it is a simple issue, it may be yours to work on.Polk Lsi9

Again, Paul... why do you have to keep repeatedly posting good things about these B&K amps when you know I want one(yours).
One question though, why not double capacitance? When I had one for a short time, I was too **** to crank it in fear I would run out of headroom. Now I know what my speakers sound like given certain power outputs. But I'm just curious why not put bigger/more caps in? -

Because anything is better than the way they did it?
Our way of thinking differs from theirs?Testing

Fair enough.
I still have dibs. Deal with it. -

Alright Andre?
I did not mean to give off a threatening sound my friend.
Crazy how something so innocent can sound harsh.
Sorry man, you must know me better than that!
Just sounded wrong by proxy.Testing

Not sure what you found threatening or harsh about your comment. I chuckled! Have another beer bud! hahaha
I am serious though, if you sell that amp, I want it and will buy it.
That is all.
