I am new to the forum and need some help. I have a pair of RT 7 speakers in need of replacement tweeters. I have read that the original 6501 drivers are no longer made. What is the model number of a suitable replacement for these?
Thank you in advance.

I think your gonna have to scour the internet/eBay as there is notruly suitable replacement other that the original. Rt7, rt16 have same tweeter, rt25i, 35i, 55i, 800i have a very similar tweeter, but those are difficult to find used. This is one of those rare instances where having something OLDER (Monitor series) is actually easier to repair/replace.Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR (5.0.2); LG OLED77C2 4K TV(4) Polk Monitor 10B's w/SoniCaps, Mills, and RDO-194 tweets (R/L F/R)(2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)Polk CS300 center channelAnalog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-RayBedroom: Arylic Up2Stream AMPv3 driving Polk Monitor 4's w/peerless tweets

SL-6501 tweeters can be found on Ebay from time to time. Set up an ebay search to notify you when an auction is posted. Something such as "polk tweeter SL" ought to work. There are users here that will have those parts available also, but you will need to have 100 posts here in the forums to post a "wanted" ad.
Another surefire way to get compatible tweeters is to buy a cheap pair of Polk RTfx speakers on ebay. They frequently go very cheaply, especially if the cabinets are rough, and one pair contains 4 compatible tweeters--SL6502. My understanding is that the SL6502 are identical to SL6501, except that they are magnetically shielded with a bucking magnet.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0 -

About the best deal you're gonna find for two of those tweets. Heck I'm tempted to buy it myself!Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

The LS/FX uses a different tweeter. That is the tweeter used in the CS350LS and the LS 50/70/90 series. They will physically fit into your RT7s, but I don't know if they have the same specs and will sound the same. The RTfx is what you're looking for.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

I would have to check, but I think the original tweeter is an SL6001 on the RT7's?
I may be wrong, I will have to research, but if not, I have a pair of the SL6501's also!:cheesygrin:Testing

RT7 Tri-Lams are definitely SL6501. The local schematic shows that model# and mine were confirmed when I did crossover upgrades.2.1: PC>Schiit Gungnir MB>Schiit Freya Noval>NAD C-270>Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1, HSU STF-2 5.1: HDMI Bitstream>Denon AVR-1910>polkaudio RTE55, CS350-LS, RT3, HSU STF-2, Visio M55-F0

I have a pair of RT7's with a rubbing voice coil on one woofer. They sound great. I am not sure if I should buy a woofer or sell the good woofer and two tweeters. I can't read or post the wanted or for sale posts yet. Any idea of the buy and sell price range these drivers are these going for?

I need to either buy an MW8002 woofer to replace my bad one, or sell my good one. Do you need to sell as a pair?

best to check completed listing on ebay, but they do not come up very often. One tweeter just sold for 16 and change http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Polk-Audio-RT-7-Trilaminate-Balance-Dome-Tweeter-SL-6501-/140970102702?pt=US_Speaker_Parts_Components&hash=item20d2790fae
Personally I think that they are great speakers and I would just do a saved search on ebay for the midwoofer or an individual speaker. It may take several months but one will come up for a good price...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Thank you. Tonight's update: I believe that I fixed the driver! Yesterday the distortion was so bad, I figured that I couldn't make it worse. I pulled off the center cap and "pushed" the voice coil cylinder sideways to recenter it and bring it back to round. So far, so good. It sounds sweet and clear like the other one now. Time will tell if this holds up, but I suspect that it will be fine.

So how's the rub now and how long has it been since ya tweaked the coil?

Need the 6501 tweets myself. Anyone know how the 6508 are by comparison?
