I don't even bother with forums like that. HT forum, AVS, etc....

Too many know it all keyboard rangers.

Oh, and George Grand has the copyright on 'crackpot', he only licensed it to me to use until year end.

    Cheers,

True enough Russ, but there's always something to learn somewhere. I visit the sites you listed and generally find the people to be civil. This thread really brought the cockroaches out of the woodwork though. It really chaps my **** when these elitest pisspots start in on others that don't share their obtuse viewpoints.

I think he was definitely out of line, and you did a good job checking him on it. However you get 2 minutes for highsticking, and 2 more minutes for instigating. :D

Be careful, Bott will ban your **** - he's done it before for less.

I'm not a member of AVS, and I probably will never join. There is far too much member overlap with HTF to make it worthwhile.

FWIW, you did the right thing, IMO. Let's face it, we are biased because CC carries Polk, and Polk is a great speaker, and CC sells them for less (sometimes obscenely low prices).

Many of us have gotten some GREAT deals on Polk at CC and there is nothing wrong with shopping there if you know what you are looking for and just buy there for the prices.

If you want audio boutique ambience, informed salespeople, and decently set-up listening rooms, go elsewhere.

They do have their noses' tilited slightly upward huh? Manufacturers choosing to retail their products at major chain stores just makes good marketing sense.

These "audio-snobs" are pissed off for the same reason that some folks with a college degree get the **** because someone without a degree gets promoted at work---they spent the big bucks, but didn't get the desired results. (I'm sure to get flamed on that comment). But sorry, it's true in some cases. Even though the employee without college is much more knowledgeable (thru experience) the college degree employee feels he/she should be "reimbursed" (thru quick promotion) for their expense.

Just like the audio-snob feels he getting something "special" because he bought it at a hi-fi boutique.

We ALL know that Polk has 2 factories; 1 factory builds stuff in a top-notch fashion, using the finest silver solders and hand selected drivers for the boutique stores; the other factory makes internal connections with scotch tape, and uses audiovox drivers masked to look like Polks' for the major chain's.....LOL, I'm being sarcastic OK, no flames please.

    You get my point.

    Mark Levinson Power amp.....$8,500 dollars...
    Wilson Watt Puppy's.....$34,000 dollars...
Polk Audio Lsi performance at CC prices.....priceless.
