RTi vs LSi

LOL. I guess what I was trying to say was the LSI 15s because they are discontinued are going for sale on Amazon. $490 each for this quality is a steal. I liked the RTI series as well. But LSI is right for my ears. Some people might like the RTI series visual looks where it says 'In your face' when you take the front grill off. While the LSI is more classy and blends in. To each his opinion! I agree with your review of the Energy RC-70. Auditioned it recently at Best Buy. It was good. If budget is a concern then the current sale for LSI 15s is a steal.
I just don't agree with people who don't think LSI is good enough for movies. I paired my LSI HT sytem with a decent sub and couldn't be happier. If I had the money I would go for the larger Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL.

I think the Amazon price is there but is no longer available as a pair (I bought one pair 3 months ago, then told a friend to buy one more (#6th from last , cherry) and told another friend to get the last matching pair (Ebony). -
Hey Snake.. Here's my audition experience so it might help you make up your mind if you haven't yet.
I purchased all of these from amazon, auditioned in my house and returned the ones I didn't like:
1) TSI400s, PSW 505 and CS20 center: The TSI 400s just don't cut it. CS20 was a good center. PSW505 was ok. I returned all of these after 20 days of audition.
2) RTIA7, CSIA6 center, PSW 505: RTI A7 was good. But didn't have the oomph that I was looking for. Was bit too bright. CSIA6 center was awesome. Returned this set.
3) Auditioned the RTI A9s at a local store: These were great for movies. Music was way too bright.
4) LSI15s, LSI C, LSI7s for surround and Klipsch RW-12D: Awesome. Sound is clear. Somehow gives the feeling that RTIs are just not the same league in sound stage and crispness. I run this on Pioneer SC-1522 with a Parasound HCA1200 amp. People say it sounds sweet and they don't get a head ache even at high volumes. The LSI series can sing like there's no tomorrow.
My neighbor who spent $15,000 (was a Jazz musician in the 1970s and played with Keith Jarrett) on his Bang & Olufsen set long back was blown away with the LSI 15s.
In my opinion the LSI series when paired with a decent sub that can go as low as 20Hz will be a terrific Home Theater. Looks wise LSI series looks beautiful and blends in nicely with furniture instead of sticking out like the RTIA series. I played Jurassic park last week and my dog ran away and started growling at the T-Rex.
Cheers

Snake how close are you to KY? One for sale that is a full 5 channel system."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

He means the set in the flea market."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Boom goes the dynamite!
Right on target .
I will likely never sell my LSi's, I enjoy them too much. I may add to the collection once we get a house and do a entire basement 7 or 9 channel setup of them using LSi F/X's and some additional towers plus maybe some 9's and 7's in another room down there for "light" listening .
ZLTFUL will have to sell me all of his to make that happen thought "....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Well to some extent you either pay for their location (i.e. being close) or be willing to drive and/or pay ridiculous shipping costs.
The 9's + C + F/x's are a pretty good combo."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

Your absolutely right... but there's just something about a nice big pair of towers to command the room. No hurry tho.AVR - Onkyo NR809

Trust me here though, I have heard the 9's both modded and stock the LSiM 703's and own the 15's.
For most applications the 9's provide more than enough sound and bass to command the room and dig more than deep enough for most applications. Paired with a good sub which is a MUST for HT your not lacking.
The 15's are a GREAT full range speaker for those of us (like me) going without a sub. The 9's wont leave you lacking by any means with enough power and paired with a good to great sub will be just as good if not better than the 15's or 25's.
So basically dont discount the 9's v the 15's. Its much closer when doing HT than most think. Personally I just cant get into the 25's at all."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Dan, some day those LSi's will find a new home. Eventually you'll move up like us all.
Maybe, Maybe.... but for Home Theater they are just soo good.
2 Channel, well that is always wide open.... I have dreams of Magnepan's, Carver Amazings, Carver AL-III's, Ushers, ect....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." My 15's just have the woofer upgrade. I havent gone fully down the rabbit hole there and may not ever. If I did I would do all the speakers in my 5 channel setup which would be a bit expensive."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
