Saw this ad for 4 weeks. I decided why not. All it said was 2 sets of polks about 30 miles from me. Emailed them to find out they were these. Attachment not found.Got them dirt cheap as they were moving this weekend.. MONITOR 5's--RTA8t in very good condition.

Those RTA's are pretty good speakers. I am still loving my 11TL's when I get the chance to listen to them.

    Nice!
    I preferred 5B's over 8tl's I had.

OK I have no shame... so what is "dirt cheap", exactly? Sorry, I like all the gory details!

Anyway, congrats on the speakers! Love that vintage Polk sound.

I'm guessing less than $50 for both sets.

I thought so. He just wanted them gone. They were listed for 125.00 for rta's and 100.00 for monitors..(too much)..he told me he had 3 local people but no buyers 3weeks ago. He said hes moving Upstate NY starting this weekend and they were in his way!! GOOD FOR ME :) i was going to offer him 80-100.00 for rta's before i showed up--i said how about 80.00 he said take em both...this house was at end of BASIN RD WINDHAM MAINE on the lake. I asked him how could he move from such a beautiful place. He said WORK....boy it was beautiful spot 20 feet from lake

Congrats, Boston. That was a great buy. Monitor 5s are awesome speakers. The first real set of speakers I ever bought (back in my high school days in mid 1980s) was a pair of Monitor 5s with the Peerless tweeter. They sounded amazing.
I haven't heard the RTA 8ts but they look awesome and I am sure they sound great! That's a nice collection at a super price!
    Enjoy!

as with everything from this vintage, a crossover update will go a long way with both those sets. If your RTA 8 are anything like my RTA 11T were, maybe a little soft and muddy sounding? new caps and resistors went a long wy to improving, and depending on budget, the RDO-194 took them a little farther.
