I have a vintage Onkyo TX 4500 MK II receiver for sale.

$100, local pick-up preferred (Albany, NY), but I'd consider shipping but warn that shipping cost would be around $35 (I'd get exact shipping quote if any interest). Payment by check or money order only.

This is a nice receiver and I am basically selling it for what I paid for it a little over a year ago. I recently upgraded to separates and also have some other vintage receivers so I just do not use this anymore. I was not familiar with the vintage Onkyo receivers when I bought it, having almost always had Yamaha CR series receivers. I was very impressed with the Onkyo's performance, sound, and looks. It is in perfect working condition and in very good cosmetic condition (just a few age-related surface scratchs and a little wear but not really noticeable).
It is a 60 watt receiver and it drove my Polk Monitors 7Bs and Monitor 10As with ease and was a a great match for those speakers.

I can send pics upon request.

Thanks.

That's a great price for that and a "nice" unit.

Their predecessor TX-2500 and TX-4500 literally "saved" the Onkyo group from going out of business, so these are something special in their history. There was a guy on AK who was part of the engineering team that was commissioned to design these and they were kind of like a no holds barred succeed or "bust" project. So they are put together very well! Big, heavy and powerful beyond their stated wattage.

I'm sure they sound "great" with Monitors!

    GLWTS!

Thanks cnh, mhardy, and kharp. It really is a great vinatge receiver - like you said, it is well-built, powerful, great sounding, and has one one of the best tuners. It really impressed me. I hate to sell it but I just have too many other receivers and just do not use it anymore.

Not sure I can afford it right now, but I'd love to have one of those... I'd like a shipping quote to Paris, AR 72855, if you would please, and maybe a picture?

Well darn! I would have bought it, had it still been available. My luck in purchasing vintage receivers lately has, frankly, been terrible. The old "day late and dollar short" thing again! Hope someone from on here got it...

Sorry, jcaut. I know the feeling as I missed out on a few things myself lately.

I was hoping to sell it to a fellow Polkie and had listed it on CP for the past 4 or 5 days. But, infortunately, it got no interest on here so I decided to put it on my local CL yesterday morning and it sold soon thereafter.

Good luck with your search. I am sure you will find a nice vintage receiver.
