Well after lot's of reading on whats what in the world of tubes I decided on the Prima 6' because of the 70wpc power spec. I was going to buy the 7's but thought I would rather choose my own tubes and send them out for mods later down the line.

I like the fact that these have an auto bias making tube rolling a hassle free experience. These have a soft start function so it prolongs the life of a tube and if one tube goes bad I do not need to replace the whole set as it corrects it all, it seems like a PFB proof approved set of amps( cue the binding post comments) Maybe that could be a new stamp on robust equipment?

My mit exp ic's and cables are great for HT but I would like to step up to the shotgun series for my mono's and just use the perfectwave with its built in pre for 2 ch at this moment. I don't know how the wifes going to like all this though as its hard to justify what your spending to them when they are not clue'd in.

I may give some nice power cords a try with the exp just so I get an idea of how they affect the sound. When I first started in this hobby the thought of buying power cords for an improvement was just way out there, Now after reading what people share my views have changed

The amps get here Friday and I look forward to burning them in and once again bringing back the magic to all my old classic rock albums that need some kick **** mids

Good for you. When I see their ads in stereophile and the absolute sound I sometimes wish I had them. Glad the hear you have an open mind about power cables. You have come a long way. One word though is if the tube is hard to get in the socket do not be afraid to really jam it in hard.

Only kidding about the last part.

Well I am still reading up on a whole bunch of 2ch goodies but one thing I came across is that a comment about power cords not really making a more substantial improvement like they would if I was to add a power cord to my dac or HT preamp. Is there any truth in this power cords don't really alter the sound at all in a tube amp? If thats the case then if I was to upgrade I would spend less in the tube amp cords than I would for my dac

I find a 25 pound sledgehammer works well in those situations. Remember to always take the tubes out when the amp has had a chance to warm up a bit.

I noticed marked improvement when upgrading the power cord on my oppo. I put better than stock but not great cords on my amp and pre but the one to the CDP was the greatest improvement by far.
    Too much **** to list....

Congrats on the new amps! I love my Primaluna. It sounds great and it's low maintanance. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone, especially those new to tubes because they are so hassle and worry free. They are not just good for beginners however due to their excellent sound quality.

I think there is some truth to pcs making a bigger impact with sources. That doesn't mean that they don't have a large impact on pres and amps. I have done quite a bit of experimenting with different power cords on sources, pres, and amps, and different cords do make a noticable difference in every component. Where I really notice the difference is with bass and imaging. They can also have a big impact on overall tone.

In my system, I have found Pepster's cables to sound great with all of my amps, including my Primaluna. Give him a shout, they are very well built cables and wont break the bank. Pepster is awesome to deal with also. Congrats again! I can't wait to here what you think of them even though I have a pretty good idea that you will love them. When you are ready to do some tube rolling, give me a shout. These things respond incredibly well to tube rolling!

Well Dawgfish I guess I have you to thank for recommending them as I have never looked into the brand or what they stand for. I like the fact that its all point to point wiring and that the caps inside them can easily be replaced with higher quality ones. I will for sure be hitting you up with questions about tube rolling a little later down the line

Zingo I will be abiding by the 'pics or it didn't happen' law and will snap a few audio **** shots
